Deadpool (Full Reaction)

We made it to Deadpool! Watching all of the X-Men movies has been so much fun, but this is the movie I've been most excited to see.

Wade Wilson is a former Special Forces operative. He becomes the victim of terrifying experiments which transform him into Deadpool. Now, with his super healing powers, he's going to hunt down the man who almost killed him and turned his whole life upside down.

Hope you are having a wonderful Tuesday! Sending you all my love!

Deadpool (Full Reaction)

Comments

Thanks for the heads up! I'm planning on watching it after Logan!

Jacqueline

I'm so glad this was enjoyable!! Inara/Morena was fantastic! She's such a great actress and it was lovely to see her make another appearance on the channel. Haha, I don't mind waiting for DP 3 to come out on streaming, so long as I get to watch it with you all!

Jacqueline

Thank you so much!! I'm excited for both of those movies coming up!!

Jacqueline

Thank you Ed!! Also, thanks for the Cinemawins video suggestion. I'll check that out!

Jacqueline

just a heads up jax please don't watch deadpool 2 till after logan as there is major spoilers

Liam Harrold

FINALLY had a chance to watch your reaction and it was everything I hoped it to be, and more. Now comes the torture of waiting until you get to Deadpool 2! And wasn't Inara ... I mean Morena, so good in it?? Her and Ryan really did have great chemistry. And we'll be getting Deadpool 3 in July, too (although you'll have to wait for streaming while the rest of us run out to the theatre on opening night/weekend)! So excited for that one, based on what limited photos I've seen.

HeyHeyJK

Wade Wilson isn't in Arrowverse, you're thinking of Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke, very similar, but that's because DC and Marvel copied off of each other a lot back in the day. I can't remember which came first in this case, but they are distinctly different characters.

Kevin Bartelen

There is a Wolverine and Deadpool movie that they've been dropping trailers for recently, that is in fact Deadpool 3, also now officially part of the MCU.

Kevin Bartelen

That's awesome!

Jacqueline

Some of these scenes were a little blush worthy!!

Jacqueline

Morena Baccarin was awesome in this! She was so perfectly cast.

Jacqueline

I always have my Villain Mode activated!

Jacqueline

Please would you answer my message just for a minute, I'd be so grateful, please 😊😊

David Davidson

This reaction was awesome! Can't wait for Deadpool 2 and Logan. Also on a side note, if you're ok with the gore in Deadpool 1 & 2 then I think you'll be ok with Judge Dredd, in my opinion they're about the same. Maximum effort!

Baalberith

Such a great reaction!!! Been a while since I've seen this movie and I forgot how funny it was!!! Regarding the timeline stuff, I think it's easier to just not think about it too much, which fits Deadpool pretty well! There's some great CG test footage that was made years before the movie to prove that this type of character could be done and could work and the opening freeway chase/fight was largely taken from that footage! I also totally suggest checking out the Cinemawins video on this movie. It's a great breakdown of what makes the movie work and it's the video that caused that channel to blow up!

Ed Scoglio

So... after you watch Deadpool 2, watch "Once upon a Deadpool 2". It is a "PG-13" retelling of Deadpool 2 where Deadpool kidnaps Fred Savage and keeps him in the bedroom from Princess Bride and "reads" the story of Deadpool 2 to him. It's fantastic! There are times when the story gets interrupted by Fred Savage asking a question like in Princess Bride. You won't regret it.

Steve Chambers

If you’ve ever seen that BBC segment ‘Playground Insults,’ Josh Brolin brings up ‘GL’ twice.

Lamar Smith

Think I actually noticed Jax blush a time or two during this one!

doreedo

Thanks Jax!, It was nice to see you throw some recognition at Morena Baccarin's Vanessa character (a fountain of strength, like her Inara character), since it's so easy to focus on Ryan Reynolds energy.

Robert Inman

I actually love Deadpool because I see it as continuing where Arrowverse started with Wade Wilson's character.

Cesilia Targaryen

Even in the midst of Colossus's heart-felt hero speech, Jax still advocates for homicide. That's why we love you!

Horace Cocroft

I love your content so much! Hi from Macedonia, Europe! 😊 I'd be so grateful if you can answer my message here, just for a minute, please 😊

David Davidson

Aaaw, poor Bob! 😂

Jacqueline

This was such an awesome movie!! I'm watching everything from Marvel in release order so I don't think Venom is next. But I'm psyched to see that movie!

Jacqueline

"It's a face I'd be happy to sit on." Deadpool has some of the most romantic lines. LOL.

Eric

Awesome movie!! Venom next?!

Stitch

Other than Deadpool himself, the character from this movie who appears the most often in the Deadpool comics is Bob, the minion who Wade recognizes from the classified TGI Fridays in Jacksonville. Deadpool faces a lot of villains, but no one gets beat up as frequently - or gently - as good old Bob, there to serve in the cannon fodder of this month’s enemy.

You might consider doing a short reaction to the ‘DP & Wolverine’ trailer. It’s on Disney in the DP tab.

Lamar Smith

So, first off: I’M SO FREAKING HAPPY YOU ENJOYED IT!!!! I was worried about all the, shall we say, ‘intimate’ humor might have been too much. In this, there’s even an ever so slight ‘Avengers’ Easter egg, I guess. No reactor I’ve seen has gotten this reference, though. The scene of the final fight takes place in a scrapyard where the normal workers were dismantling a large grey ‘Navy’ ship. It’s the flying aircraft carrier from ‘A’ & ‘A:AoU.’ You said, “That made a terrible mess someone will have to clean up.” Well, yes but they’re dismantling it anyway. I’m SQUARELY in the straight to DP2 but respect your choices. I really thought you’d find much of it funny but it’s just awesome that you loved all of it! Please offer your opinion that this started wandering closer to a ‘bad’ reaction SOLELY because you were so engrossed. The reaction was awesome, don’t get me wrong but you seemed fully immersed in simply enjoying it. Just a cheat sheet for characters: It’s Negasonic (With an ‘N’) Teenage Warhead Wade’s friend is ‘Weas,’ short for ‘Weasel.’ ‘Blind Al’ is the Craigslist-hating, cocaine-missing roomate. ‘Dopinder’ is the cabbie ‘Colossus’ is ‘silver balls.’ You’ll be seeing all of them again I’M SO HAPPY YOU ENJOYED IT!

Lamar Smith

Very nice of you watching it :)

36:15 More likely a reference to Green Lantern. Origins Wolverine doesn't get much respect, especially for its ... idiosyncratic version of Deadpool, but Green Lantern (2011) is generally regarded as among the worst superhero movies*. (And perhaps it's a reference to both. Gotta admire Ryan Reynolds for persevering with the "superhero" genre! :-) ) * (If you enjoyed it, great.) 1:11:00 I'll vote for this as one of your all-time reaction lines. :-) 1:12:30 "I love a Stan Lee Cameo. And I'm so glad he's here!" ??? You're glad Stan Lee is here working in a strip club?! Okaaaay... :-P 1:31:31 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15239678/quotes/?item=qt7331613 [Dune 2 SPOILER] 1:37:20 Girl has a reason to be angry. After all, if I truly wanted someone bad enough, wouldn't be a thing in the 'verse that could stop me from going to her. :-|

Happy Hanukkah

In the post-credit scene, Deadpool jokes that someone called Keira Knightley could play Cable. Is that the same Keira Knightley who played the title character in Domino (2005)? :-)

Happy Hanukkah

The moment I've all been waiting for, Jax watching Deadpool!

Doug Watson

The post credit scene is a parody of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" post credit scene with Matthew Broderick. The thing about not making the suit green or animated is for Green Lantern that Ryan Reynolds played, wearing a green suit which was computer animated.

David Bourgeois

This movie was such a great payoff because it felt like it was never going to happen. Ryan was so passionate about the character and doing it justice, but the studio really made it an uphill battle.

Cameron

This was definitely an unexpected surprise🙂🤣😇🙏👍

Gabriel Urias

omg I'm loving this journey with you! can't wait to keep going.

Mister Lou

This is a MUCH more comics-accurate Deadpool than we got in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Deadpool in the comics is very much the "Merc With The Mouth", and in fact breaks the fourth wall just like he did in this movie. Comic Deadpool actually knows he's in a comic book, and will make references to it often. We also got a more comics-accurate version of Colossus than we got in the regular X-Men movies, in both appearance and personality. Negasonic Teenage Warhead however has different powers than she does in the comics. This version of Negasonic has powers normally possessed by a mutant codenamed Cannonball. People have mentioned that this movie is in the post-"Days Of Future Past" timeline, but I'm pretty sure it's meant to be an alternate universe, and thus not fully in sync with the other movies. Given Deadpool's habit of breaking the fourth wall, it's hard to be sure :) Yes, there's a Deadpool 2. There are three versions actually. There's the theatrical version, which is probably the most widely available. There's the "Super Duper Cut" which has some extended scenes and alternate jokes but isn't all that much better. There's also "Once Upon A Deadpool" which was a special release because Fox wanted a PG-13 version for a special re-release in December since they had to delay the movie originally planned for that spot. Ryan Reynolds didn't want to do just a cut-down verison, so they came up with a... special concept to fill the space from the cut material, and Fox donated a portion of the proceeds to "F--- Cancer". And yes, there's a third Deadpool movie coming this summer. The trailers look INSANE :)

Patrick Egan

I was never a reader of the comics, but my dad is a huge fan of comics. I can only go by what he told me, so any other patrons can correct me if I'm misinformed, but this movie has the most comic-accurate version of Deadpool (obviously... you've seen the hate the other version got... although I'm told in the comics Deadpool CAN teleport) and the most comic-accurate Colossus as well. Also, I don't think it's a spoiler to say that certain characters appearing in Deadpool 2 are also the most comic-accurate versions in any of the movies so far. I get the feeling that because Deadpool was such a passion project from fans of the character, they tried pretty hard to be as accurate as possible with supporting characters as well. There are differences due to the Marvel Studios/Fox separation of various Marvel properties, but these movies are at least pretty close when it comes to character depictions. Looking forward to all of the upcoming reactions! Especially "Logan," "Deadpool 2," and "The New Mutants" (which I sometimes feel I am the only fan of, but I won't apologize for having enjoyed it). Everyone is entitled to their opinion. ✌️🤓

"It's time to make the chimi-f$%&#-changas!" So glad you're finally here Jax! Can't wait to check out your reaction ❤️

Future_Boy85

I so appreciate you telling me about the timeline change! Also, I didn't even recognize the Helicarrier that they were fighting on in the end. That's so cool that Bob was from the comics! Also, I had no idea that Viper was a Hydra member in the comics! I'm looking forward to meeting Cable.

Jacqueline

Jax doesn't need to watch Logan until before Deadpool 2

Andrew Polinski

Omg perfect timing as X-Men 97 also releases the first episode of its massive three episode conclusion storyline today as well, Wednesday for me. So this is the Ultimate X-Men Wednesday :D TIMELINE CONTEXT: Deadpool is officially set within the new timeline created at the end of Days of Future Past. According to the online community it's often labelled as the Revised Timeline this being the timeline Logan wakes up in during the ending of Days of Future Past. So this is how Fox was able to get around any changes made in future films including Deadpool such as a new Deadpool origin story to Colossus being recast etc. First Class is the first film in both timelines set in 1962 and then the events of 1973 happen where Logan goes back in time to prevent the assassination of Trask giving birth to a new timeline. Everything post 1973 is free to change while some stuff will remain the same. Taking what didn’t work in the original timeline and throwing it away while keeping aspects that worked. Side note the Deadpool films are the most comic accurate X-men films both in faithfulness to the characters but also the character designs as well. Deadpool's suit is perfect and Colossus looks pulled right out of the modern comics. MARVEL REFERENCES (That Fox legally cannot mention) This film does have a few Greater Marvel Universe references but legally they couldn’t give any context to them. The whole end battle takes place in front and on top of decommissioned helicarrier the same type of airships used by S.H.I.E.L.D. You were introduced to the Helicarrier in The Avengers (2012) later showing up in Winter Solider and Age of Ultron etc.. It was originally designed by Jack Kirby for the Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. serial in Strange Tales #135 (August 1965). The Director for Deadpool has confirmed that it's not a S.H.I.E.L.D Helicarrier stating: "No, it's clearly not the Helicarrier. I just want to say for the record, there's a lot of groups in the Marvel universe who use flying combat platforms. It's not just the Helicarrier. A.I.M. (Advanced Idea Mechanics) has some. It could have been anything but a S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier. Because that would be outside of the purview of the Fox/Marvel arrangement." Throughout this the director had a little smile on his face. I personally think it's just a fun little nod or hint at groups like this existing in the Fox X-Men universe even though they can't mention S.H.I.E.L.D or A.I.M for legal reasons the X-Men universe does have massive fighting robots that hunt Mutants so why couldn’t they also have flying carriers as well for keeping Mutants in check. Also the solider known as Bob who Deadpool recognises in this ending battle is actually from the comics. He first appeared in Cable & Deadpool #38 (May 2007) and went by Bob, Agent of Hydra. He’s usually an antihero and a sidekick of Deadpool. He was a former member of Hydra but left the group to help Wade Wilson, keeping his Hydra uniform. For legal reasons Bob couldn’t be apart of Hydra in this film so they threw him in with the Bad guys of this film. Not the first time we've seen a Hydra member in the X-Men films as Viper from The Wolverine (2013) was originally introduced as Madam Hydra in the Captain America comics apart of Hydra. She would later take up the mantle of Viper after leaving the group. WE GOT CABLE: Cable in Deadpool 2!!! I think I mentioned him in your Terminator reaction, you'll really like him as a character. Cable is one of my favourite characters so that's going to be fun. I'll not spoil anything about his character and hopefully other people hold off as well.
