It's a Marvel property, but Marvel didn't actually have any input on these films, they sold the rights to many of their characters (for movie purposes) back when they were just doing comics and the company was having financial problems. They reacquired the rights shortly before what is currently the last X-Men movie was released. The only X-Men stuff Marvel had actually had a say on as far as movies go is the stuff that's been in the MCU, which started happening around the time WandaVision came out.
