They resurrected Jean because the plan was to do this all along, the shape of a phoenix can be seen in the water at the end of X2, hinting about what her "death" unlocked and triggered. In the comics, her dying is also what triggers the Phoenix, just in a different way.

2024-04-01 17:24:51 +0000 UTCThe Phoenix storyline is canonical with the comics (late 70's I think), and it's my own theory that the reason they resurrected Jean Grey was because fans were pissed they didn't do it before killing her off in the last film. It's VERY popular.

2024-03-21 03:12:44 +0000 UTCI enjoy this original trilogy. Just know though that the continuity of the X-Men movies after this is not the best so just go with the flow. Even though I'm sad that Rogue as a character gave up her powers. I like that she did it for her and no one else.
