off to sea animation meme uhs birthday surprise (wolf)

so i made this in 8 hours, and ended up doing an all nighter just to get it done just in time for my oc, uhs, birthday. this is his fursona that he wouldve created in a deviantart alternate universe (like, as if he grew up online , on devart )

i decided to use his fursona for this just because itd be easier for me to hash out quicker- and ive always wanted to do a video to this song with uh! so it was a fun kick my ass into gear type project :-]

the song itself i guess gives me vague 'uh flavor' , i usually attribute soft high voiced singing with kind of malicious or foreboding lyrics to him so this was a deadringer. 

the words themselfs dont super attach to anything to his Story but i do think 'i know ive been gone a long time but- im back and i want what is mine' can 1for1 with his thinking toward karma and revenge toward karma itself [because his wife+child died for manpain, and because of it he develops a sort of vendetta against TheWorld (tm) in general, and a more spiritual force that i dont believe he thinks of as karma but works and stands in for Karma in feature

SO 'ive been gone a long time' COULD be the stretch of time where he was grieving to himself and not really doing much to cope with the situation.
and 'im back and i want what is mine' segway into the whole murder emotion outburst deal (>///< its how i COPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) more aggressive simply because i feel he would be Talking To Karma - and not really anyone in particular.

ANYWAY with that out of the way- i think i wanted to do tweening for the most part for this, and why the first half of the video is just lip sync. to sort of match up with the original meme- but i felt like i could and wanted to make things more interesting after taking a break to binge watch warrior cat animations

i think its kind of cringe and funny the first half reads as southpark animation style to me especially with the head detached bobbing so its hard for me to take seriously now, but thats ok <3 . i saved the body parts that move separately from themselves like so, so i could move them around in the video while editing

i decided for the next half to have a more 'interesting' view of him and a simple animation to test what i could do with the rest o the video. so wind blowing was my go to! for the rest of the video i colored each individual frame white and then locked the layer to sloppily render his markings with a textured brush so there would be no transparency bleeding thru to the background (which i hadnt figured out yet at this point

the turn and mouth shots were thrown in last mintue to make it a bit more cohesive and "scary" , i try very hard to make things go on beat so if you pay attention to the song you can see that in the next scene with the double boxes!

i wanted the left box to be Glitchy but it might just look like hes headbanging weird. thats ok, while the left lip syncs i had the right box (him dragging a body) flip between different forms of him since this isnt really a Story and more of a Feeling type video for this character.

it syphons through his sparklewolf self(what he would look like as a wolf-NOT his design, my design for him), warrior cat self, true fursona shoebill self (what animal i attribute him with), and human

right flips the corpsed body to start lip syncing for the second half of the lyricset just to have a fun flow- i decided not to worry too much about actual lip syncing since it didnt need to be that serious and i was timed trying to get done as soon as possible. and i think it looks very passable- i tend to really like that type of talk animation anyway. theres charm to it

the swipe was complete filler, these doodles were me getting a feel for how i wanted to draw him and potential Scenes to add to the video- essentially all my thumbnailing and wips for it made it into the video itself!

you can see that the color scheme has changed to have a pink overlay as well, again used to portray a more sinister turn to the lyrics but overall just a switch up to signify shift 

the look with head at weird angle eyes opening part (the next one. after the swipe LOL) was more from inspiration of different animation meme videos, i thought him opening his eyes in acknowledgment of viewer to the 'but' -> rest of lyrics was him showing consciousness to the viewer, i also tend to try to have uh be conscious of the viewer in a lot of other pieces

the last with the two dead bodies- if you could tell that

are supposed to be wife and child, sort of supposed to be ambiguous if he killed them in this fake iteration of his Psyche, his character Feel video, or if hes in mourning and covered in their blood for being so close to their dead selves

i like to attach a bunch of different possibilites to it while not closing the door on anything. very possible to see it as him still being affected by their spilled blood, him killing them in his heart for becoming so hurt over their passing, killing them himself and taking control over smth he had no control over, his tendency To Murder affecting the memories of his family and causing them to bleed/die as a concept . so much to think about! 

in the body dragging scene w the boxes earlier you Could say its his dead wifes ghost/body/memory whatever hes dragging around too- or just a rando

video background are always the hardest part for me. i dont like to think abt backgrounds in general so i did a vague wavey line that resembled waves and it worked out pretty well

the box scenes were transparent lines slapped overtop the boxes themselves

note: his human flip in this scene conscious of viewer :-{}!!!!!!!!!!

all in all a very special and important video for me- uhs 33rd birthday!! as i celebrate it in real time. thank you for reading!!
