Japan to cover 50% of Travel costs for Tourists?

It depends John. If I am kept somewhere in quarantine this is a “no go” to begin with. Let me put it this way: I think they are paying 50% of your cost due to the lack of places you can visit and for the general attitude the Japanese people will have toward foreigners (foreigners that will be seen as a new possible health threat). Japan is a very homogeneous culture and disturbance is not accepted. Their emphasis toward safety sometimes touches the ridiculous. I don’t think this 50% off will entice me. I am of the concept “fear is the mind killer” and that doesn’t fly well in Japan. Actually it doesn’t fly well in US either. But that’s another story.

I’m supposed to be heading to Japan in January for an 8 week trip but I think it’ll be delayed until the following year and will be a 12 week trip. If Japan is covering half of the costs for next year then I might pop over for a couple of weeks anyway.
