It’s current rules essentially bar citizens of countries such as China and Indonesia from using their own drivers’ licenses and int’l driving permits to drive/rent a car in Japan short-term (main reason is due to the permits not following an older road safety treaty signed by Japan).

Say in the worst-case scenario that they will be postponed again until 2022... what happens to all the new hotels and places that depend on these games. I mean Japan put a lot of money into the planning and everyone was/is still excited. How is this influencing the economy, besides the pandemic? I bet they expected a great benefit out of it. What is with all the new jobs that would be created due to the Olympics? Are they still safe and do you think this is hurting Japan? Or even worse, do you think Japan has to cancel the whole Olympics? I know that would be devastating. :(
