The Taira no Masakado Story

Peter and I visited the Taira no Masakado grave this evening. It was kind of scary because previous to starting Kanae had told me to be careful with this. It shook me a little. Sensitive topics are typically ignored in Japan. I was told a Japanese comedian who came here with a TV crew was kicked and beaten by locals. He left and was not employed again for 3 years! The GO channel is big enough that it could get picked up in the news — which is good but it can’t be for disrespectful reasons >_< I’ll return here to pray in my own way off camera but such streams are always going to be a challenge, and also I should shh away from them either. It’s important to take you with me live on such trips because you can feel the area better. There are a few more stories like this I have planned for summer.

Let’s hope we didn’t disrupt the harmony of the spirit and the neighborhood. Lighten up John (I’m good now) — and have a great day everyone 😁

Saw that yesterday 🤔 I wonder if we influenced other journalists? The timing seems more than a coincidence, no? Hehehe

Interesting story, I think you dealt with it sensitively and gave the respect it deserved. For what it’s worth I think you would have been fine to enter, you are telling the story and keeping the history alive and any god would be happy with that. I feel his anger is felt when disregarded or treated as make believe. Good work John and PVG

Thanks John and PvG for a great story and explanation! It is definitely an important reminder to show respect when visiting sites like this in Japan as well as any other country too!

I can't wait to watch this later. I am sure you and Peter covered this with great respect. Thanks for sharing this.
