Patreon Q&A for April 2018
Added 2018-04-01 04:44:10 +0000 UTCLeave me a comment below with a question and I’ll answer them in the live Q&A. I plan to do it on April 4th at 10:30am but it may change. I’m working hard on several episodes on the main Only in Japan channel and that means location shoots and schedule changes but pencil in (Tokyo time) APRIL 4th @ 10:30am \(^-^)/
I’m doing another meet up in Tokyo on 4/4 as well and will live stream that at 16:00 (4pm)

Hey John, 2 questions : 1) Is there any road map for the main channel? The direction of the main channel, release schedule or some sort. 2) Do you plan to make a BTS video exclusively for Patreon or maybe early access for Patreon? That's it for now, anyways, have a good day bro.

2018-04-04 01:31:51 +0000 UTCHi John! Could you name one, or perhaps several, places in Japan that you really want to see, but have not been there yet?

2018-04-03 14:20:53 +0000 UTCThat’s great! Well, first, pick the time of year. After that, it’s nice to pick up the Lonely Planet book - it’s sort of got everything that people want to see - and helps with a start. Thing is everyone is different and likes different things and there’s so much to see! After you get an idea, decide if Tokyo or Osaka is your gateway. Kansai is loaded with places to see, food and history like Kyoto so Osaka may be better than Tokyo. After that, if you want to focus on a region, you won’t need a rail pass. If you want to scoot around, rail pass may be perfect. That should be a good start :) Budget will also come into play after you’ve narrowed down what you def want to do and where you want to go.

2018-04-03 13:59:32 +0000 UTCHey John. My buddy and I are planning on coming to Japan sometime in the future. I’ve never planned a big trip like this before and it seems like there’s a lot to figure out. When it comes to stuff like where to go, what to do, and transportation, what should be the first thing we focus on?

2018-04-02 21:31:03 +0000 UTCQuestion for the most recent video, how much influence do pharmaceutical companies have on the government or the elderly? Do people use more natural treatments for illnesses? Thanks! 😁

2018-04-01 19:50:17 +0000 UTCGood question! Well, I think from the Starbucks on the 2nd floor looking down onto the scramble with the station in the background is nice. If you can elevate with a stepladder, the best is from the station side look towards the mega TVs and lights. The station is under construction. I filmed it like this for NHK in 2009 but we could stand on top of the TV van so we got amazing shots. It helps to be about a meter over the crowd. You’ve only 45 seconds to get the shot. If you put a marker in the center and she runs out and stand there for 30 minutes each time the crossing starts, you may be able to pull off an impressive time lapse — best for that is to put the camera on the table at Starbucks and make sure you don’t move it. Cut out the part where the cars are moving and just use the people flowing around her. Best time of day is hard. 6pm or 7pm is nice when the lights come on and the sky gets a little dark or red at sunset. I made a video on the scramble in 2013 and there’s a time lapse you might like.

2018-04-01 19:05:43 +0000 UTCOk extreme tourist question, for Shibuya crossing, to get good pics of my wife walking across is there a better side to start from and a best time of day? We just want your opinion since we know you have been there many times. Thanks and hope we can talk on Skype if you have time.
