Then patreons could follow along the researchers process without the researcher having to use conscious effort to promote himself :-) It may affect the writing, but I don't know to which degree it'll do so above the effect of having publicly accessible notes.

Posting video logs of their progress/thoughts every 1/2/4 weeks maybe? But also wonder how fast will this approach become dominated by those spending most time on presentation and not the actual research : (
