COM-15 — New model reveal and more!

Today we want to look a little further into the 11.0 update: specifically the new COM-15.

Ever since its addition nearly 3 years ago, the COM-15 has been a staple for any would-be Scientist or D-Class wanting to get the upper hand on each other. While the way it’s acquired will not be changing the model, animations, sounds and mechanics will.

We will go over in-depth weapon mechanics not only for the COM-15 but other weapons in a future post, for now, let’s look at the model:

Model Showcase

As mentioned in the "Deep Dive into the Guns Overhaul", the new model is based on the Ruger SR-Series more specifically, the Ruger SR9c. The weapon has three attachments: suppressor, extended magazine, and flashlight.

With the default attachments equipped, this is how the gun presents itself in-game:

As with every other weapon, the COM-15 can be unloaded. Unloaded pistols have their slide locked into the rear position:

Recoil Pattern

The COM-15 is the first gun we can use to present to you the recoil pattern mechanics. While this feature was created having full-automatic guns in mind, it also works for pistols if you fire fast enough. Notice that the camera always follows a predefined path.

While completely unnecessary to most players, you can spend some time learning how to counter the recoil patterns of different guns (each has a unique one) to increase your accuracy when firing rapidly.
