YOU HAVE TO CHECK THIS ONE OUT!!!!
Okay...this was a journey and MAN! It was great!
The vocals are insanely good with some sick tuning. It almost sounds too perfect!
Every single member of this band was able to captivate my ears at some point within the song. You could keep listening to this song and find something new each time!
I hope you're thinking about checking this one out!
I got one of their albums, but the auto-tune (at least some form of pitch-correction with artificial layers on top of it) on the vocals ruins them somewhat for me so I only listened to it once or twice (I just can not stand that type of sound, it sounds too fake for me). It is present on the Genie High albums as well unfortunately, especially the newer ones. I have listened to those more, but even there it's a bit much for me to the point that I hardly listened to the newest one because of it. But Genie High is basically Progressive Pop, and since it's Pop I am a bit more lenient.
Since others have mentioned them, I would highly recommend Tricot though (who are the reason why I even checked out the 2 bands I mentioend before), which is one of my favourite Japanese bands altogether and they don't get enough reactions (not sure if it has to do with their label or not). They have done a fantastic live in studio set for Audiotree, which has amazing sound quality without sounding extremely overproduced and still has some of their live flair as well (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9UdrctkzbQ). There is a tracklist in the comments, it's difficult for me to recommend one single track off of that one, but I think "18, 19" shows of their skills very well.
Edit: Also as far as the bass players goes, Japanese bands/artists just tend to have incredibly skilled bass players. I don't know for sure why that is, but I know Jazz is still pretty popular in Japan, which might be why they are more willing (and it's seemingly more acceptable) to have basslines that are not just in the background like what is seemingly the case over here in the West. It is one of the main reasons why I the Japanese rock/metal scene clicked with me because I have always loved good bass playing and bass playing is so underappreciated here in the West.

The next time you visit with this “extremely rude girl”, I would suggest “ryōseibai de li ja nai”…which roughly translates as “it’s fine to punish both parties”.

Still not very hip-hop…but definitely in the funky, jazzy, progressive rock vein.
Other song suggestions would be “Funky Night” and “Digital Mole”
Exploring Enon’s other musical projects will start you down a deep rabbit hole. Besides gesunokiwamiotome, there’s Indigo la End (his main group) and Genie High. Of course Genie High introduces you to Ikkyu Nakajima’s rabbit hole of musical projects. Besides Genie High, there’s Tricot (her main group), SUSU, her solo stuff, plus the song she wrote for “Bocchi the Rock”. When you get around to Ikkyu, I would suggest “Shaminami” (Genie High) and “Ducks and Dogs” (Tricot).
Have fun!
