The countdown begins to my summer ending, but that doesn't mean the party over here ever stops! Heh. I am not that much of a party animal really. My idea of a party is board games, video games, good food, beverages and chit-chat. Come join my carne asada this weekend where we discuss the following music!

While we wait patiently for the release of "What is Justice?" we continue our way through the "Just Bring It" album with "OOPArts." A song that has never been played live and I don't know why other than maybe it isn't composed by them. I wonder what this song will sound like!

Living Colour - Love Rears It's Ugly Head
When I read the description of this reaction suggestion, I had to make sure that I was aware of thier most well known song, "Cult of Personality." I looked it up, and I found that I am somewhat familiar with the song. I am sure it's from wrestling, but I am not sure! Anyway, I am excited to check out another guitar great, Vernon Reid and the band Living Colour!
Mizuni Ukikusa (ミズニ ウキクサ) - Cinematic Romance (シネマティックロマンス)
This will be the second time checking out Mizuni Ukikusa and I am not mad about it at all. I remember listening to "Cinderella" and feeling like this was the fine wine of alternative rock music. The instrumentals were GORGEOUS. I felt like I was sipping my hot coffee on the balcony of a cool afternoon thinking of life. It took me there. Needless to say, I can't wait to check out this newer release from them!

It's been interesting finally looking at a lot of the videos in the BMP collection. I am curious about what they talk about in these one-on-one talks. Everytime I login to the page I see these and I am curious, so I figured today would be the day to check them out together!

Girls Band Cry
I like episode 13. They knew they wouldn't sell as many tickets as Diamond Dust, but they went for it anyway and didn't meet the quota while Diamond Dust sold out. It's just the reality of a growing band against an established one, but even through all that they keep their heads up and give a great performance.
Rock is a Lady's Modesty
Episode 5...what can I say? This episode was NEEDED! I won't spoil it, but I am so happy this episode happened sooner than later!
Also, I was thinking of starting "K-ON" since it's on HIDIVE. Would that be a good anime to jump into?
What's your favorite drink of choice at the backyard BBQ? Is it a ice cold beer, cocktail? I'm curious of what you bring or gravitate to at a party!🍹🍺

I think K-ON be great Anime to watch as when it aired in Japan it inspired a lot of kids to start their own bands. also some of the references that are used in the band maid documentary are from K-ON.

2025-07-19 14:29:55 +0000 UTCIt's interesting that Love Rears its Ugly Head is the only song from Living Colour which I know. I was listening to the album where it is, but the rest I don't remember at all. I can't recall if I ever tried to listen to anything else from them, but to me they remained one of those "one song bands," like Shocking Blue with Venus or Eagles with Hotel California.

I mention it because when I MAID it I got a real melancholy feeling ... to me it is sort of a sad song. It makes me think of like ... a young person leaving home for the first extended period of time ... like going away to college. You can never go home again. If you do all that is left is the "out of place artifacts" from your memories of what was. The buildings are different, the streets are different, the people are different ... all that remains the same are your memories and that was the mindset the song puts me in. I guess I should never assume anyone has heard anything ... but unless you have literally lived under a rock since 1988 I would think you have been exposed to "Cult of Personality" at least once :p . I am glad you checked ;) . Love Rears its Ugly Head may not typical of the music of Living Colour, but it does show the band can really do anything. Vernon Reid ... Corey Glover ... superstars. ... at a party I'm drinkin' ice water ... sorry. Carne Asada .. just ring the dinner bell ;) . Arrachera ... mmmmm.
