2023-06-17 03:49:17 +0000 UTC((i deleted the original comment on accident sorry, here it is, edited)) I used to work for Toronto parks and rec, and I have to agree with you that the most egregious thing about the couple’s thing is that she’s making money off a public park and unless she’s like, registered as a business she's violating municipal park land use bylaws, as far as I can tell (I cannot tell you which bylaw which is on me, but I wasn’t in policy, and should probably do some work before I say anything else lol) Because tennis courts have signage (like Thompson Park’s tennis club and stuff) that stakes their legitimacy, the couple, from what I can tell, don’t, which means they’re not following the same historical tradition as the exception you discussed which allows them to make money off their permit? If anything, the city should be organising pickleball training/whatever (usually free) in order to use the facilities in the way they’re using it (and again, making money off it, which is the ISSUE). I might have missed you discussing their media efforts (but I did hear that you don’t wanna dox them lol). Also Sabrina, how's kickboxing!?

Like, you go there, start pickling, and when they go "pay us or leave" you just go, "we're going to keep playing, and there's nothing non-violent you can do to stop us." Bring a whole bunch of people to do that, obviously.
