It turns out that combining extremely high levels of empathy with ancient herd instincts can have some explosive results. The Tapa have evolved to be very good at defusing such scenarios before they get out of hand; the average Tapa would be better at talking someone down from a suicide attempt than the average human expert at that task. They emotionally regulate each other actively, smelling strong emotions and taking immediate steps to restore the equilibrium of the individual in question. I was once surprised when a whole group of Tapa suddenly turned away from a speaker in mid-sentence and actively questioned and subsequently comforted a different Tapa in the crowd who didn't seem to be doing anything strange at all; they had smelled that it was starting to become upset, and stopped everything they were doing to comfort it and bring it back to a stable emotional level.
The rare times that it spirals out of control are when the crowd all gets affected simultaneously, or when the comforters are at a loss to defuse the emotion, being unable to disagree with it or otherwise unable to reach the person feeling such a thing. That is rare, though; as I said, they are experts at defusing unexploded emotional bombs. Truth and Harmony help you if you are anywhere in the vicinity during a rage stampede or a fear stampede, though. The Tapa have an entire national holiday dedicated to mourning the consequences of such stampedes in history.

I'd assume the more traditional Tapa would still be inspired by Lozlo to the time of the crisis. I must say that the mental image I got of his gentle passing was quite beautiful. Very interesting questions they pose as well.
It certainly does make me wonder how an event like that may work for those of us in the modern day. I feel a return to the smaller settlements of older times may help the pain of today, though such a thing may not be possible.

The concept of emotional "stampedes" is really interesting

Thank you for the thoughts on the Patreon content as it relates to "spoilers." Personally, I want to go into the game with minimal foreknowledge (as much as that's possible given interacting with the Patreon and Patreon discord at all gets me incidental knowledge), but I very much plan to come back and enjoy reading all these wonderful glimpses into Newhome after I've played it.
May you be blessed
