Genta Primer: The Milli'li

In the first of our Hierophant species reveals, we will be taking an exclusive deep dive into the Milli'li, pleasure-seeking denizens of the Great Azure Forest. I felt as though the best way to do this would be to share a few recently-published Carnivalian georecs on the subject. I am including them with this post; please download and peruse them at your leisure. The recently-concluded alliance between the Carnivalian Empire and the Milli'li has seen a great amount of new material published about them in Carnivalia, and the georecs are starting to spread even to Luxalo and the Rime Islands. Carnivalian georecs don't translate perfectly into flat human internet pages, but we have done our best to preserve the style.

The first is an excerpt from Luscious: A Confused Confectioner's Time Among the Milli'lii, written by Tapa sweetstand owner Gophlo Vhrump. The modest Key became a great expert on the Milli'li entirely by accident, and I found his georec (mandated and produced by the Raconteur, one of the Proud Sponsors of Carnivalia) to have a good general introduction to Milli'li biology and society. I am also moved to allow the Milli'li to speak for themselves, which is why I have included Voice of a Milli, an interview with a member of the species conducted by famed Tapa journalist Thali Joy. Both contain illustrations to better acquaint the reader with this fascinating species.

A small note regarding Golden Treasure and sexuality: Golden Treasure is not and was never meant to be an "adults only" series, being suited to mature-minded individuals of many ages, and explicit depictions of sexual activities will never be featured. Creation, however, is an incredibly important subject, and all bioforms with which I am familiar are strongly shaped by two things: what they eat, and how they reproduce, and for these reasons we will not shy away from tasteful and appropriate discussions of such out of human prudishness, but, like the Kin, speak of such things frankly and with respect. (I mention this because the Milli'li are by far the "sexiest" of all the species of Newhome, and this might lead some to believe that Hierophant is an adult game or features such themes strongly. It is not, and does not, but talking about the Milli'li without saying quite a lot about sex would be like reviewing a restaurant and not talking about the food.)

Please enjoy this window into a fascinating species: the Milli'li.

Woodstock is about as close as humanity has come to doing something the Milli'li would approve of and enjoy. And I, too, was reminded of bonobos when I learned about how important and frequent sexual contact was for them, and how central to their society. Both fine parallels.

Benjamin Ludwig

These guys remind me of Bonobos on earth actually.

JT

These guys feel like a species that would emerge if Woodstock became a nation. And even if that’s not right I still love these guys.

JT

Absolutely! When they are Keys they are 100% proudly Keys, and when Sources they are 100% proudly Sources. They see no problem whatsoever with this, and think anything else is a bit strange. They even assume other creatures like vinesharks had variable gender; they were surprised to learn how rare such a thing is. Further proof of their awesomeness, of course, in their collective opinion. One must wonder why the Originals designed such a creature, though...

Benjamin Ludwig

The line between feathers, scales, and fur is thin... they're all made of the same substance... and many creatures on Newhome have them, just as nearly every creature on this planet has some kind of keratin-based covering. The Kin don't see themselves as "looking like" the Milli'li, any more than you would say you looked like a four-armed fan-tailed double-pupiled long-nosed thing which otherwise looked a bit like a shaggy human. They do think the Milli'li are beautiful, though, and so does most of the world. They understand the workings of that body perhaps better than they would a human's ("You have TWO holes down there? How does THAT feel?" is a common newly-arrived Milli'li query to the more human-like Tapa, which the Kin might also wonder). And though some of these non-Kin genta species do have strong feelings about what the Kin are and what their arrival means, the Kin themselves are individualistic in that regard and there is no shared view or belief regarding any other particular species.

Benjamin Ludwig

Thanks for the incredible detailed view we got into Milli'li culture! When "Primers" on the Gentas were announced, I expected a far shorter summary, so seeing dozens of pages was an unexpected surprise :) Though the Milli'li will probably never be my favourite Genta, these pages did make me appreciate their unique culture and views on life

Loviare

Indeed, I share most of Yuka's thoughts on them! They are handled very well and it is refreshing how different their culture is, particularly in the Dreams they hold! it was also very interesting to get a small glimpse into Tapa culture as well! The Carnavalians seem to get along pretty well with them, probably aside from the very much confused glance. I also really like how they see themselves as both Keys and Sources, almost as two halfs of the same being! I am extremely interested to see where this goes, as I had a wide smile reading it!

Oh wow, I did not expect two whole pdf's with a whole of 26 pages in total! This was a very nice read, and if that was a taste of what's to come in the game, I am even more excited now! This is something I already liked about Goldean Treasure's Time of Creation, the tasteful and postitive/non judging way the topic of sex was handled here is really refreshing. I am also a big fan of the Milli'li's design in general!

Yuka

This is a fascinating species, and I look forward to learning more about them/seeing them in the game! Something about their design has me wondering something, though. Obviously none of the genta are related to Draak, being from entirely different worlds, but from a purely superficial level, they seem to share some appearances, both being feathered and scaled creatures. Especially since Newhome Draak have six limbs. Do Draak have any specific views or beliefs regarding other species which resemble them or species which were Kin on Earth?

Lizzie

I love their design!
