Here is another sweet old tune from France! Ménilmontant was composed and performed by French singer Charles Trenet. Django Reinhardt, a famous French guitarist, also recorded this song back in 1949. Trenet was a prolific writer and many of his hits from the '30s and '40s effectively combine the melodic and verbal nuance of French song with American swing rhythms.
In order to match the vibe from the original song I made this cover in slow Travis picking style with accordion and horn in the background. The original song is in the key of F major, but I lowered it a half tone to get the more comfortable hand positions of the E major key. However, if you prefer to play in the original key just put the capo on the first fret.
The song has two major parts. They are marked as A and B. The parts differ in tempo: A is in a slow 75 bpm and B is in 125 bpm.
The form is ABA.
