Let's Get To Know Each Other
Added 2014-06-20 19:59:19 +0000 UTCHey Patrons! It comes down to this. I like you a lot and I want to know you a whole lot better. I've decided I will be sending out these "Let's Get To Know Each Other" posts periodically to do just that. Answer the questions below in the comments section! 1. Where did you grow up? How did you like it? 2. Where do you live now? How do you like it? 3. How do you like to spend your free time? 4. How do you spend your NOT free time? (School, work, etc?) 5. What makes you happy? Ok, all for now! I want to keep these manageable. To be fair, my answers are below. 1. Where did you grow up? How did you like it? I grew up in Mission Viejo, CA (Orange County). It was a lovely place to grow up. Safe, full of families, very pretty, lots of parks. 2. Where do you live now? How do you like it? I've lived in Los Angeles for the better part of 11 years. It's not my favorite city in the world, but there are definitely some hidden gems, and the weather certainly isn't a downside. One thing I love about LA is that there is an absurd amount of amazing food here. And lots of great sushi, which is all I really need. Traffic and parking is horrendous, but we make do. Some favorite spots--Runyon Canyon for people watching, Hama for sushi, Silver Lake and Los Feliz for wandering around, Temescal Canyon for hiking, So Kong Dong for soondubu, Third Street Promenade for street performers... 3. How do you like to spend your free time? With friends and family, watching shows and movies, reading, exercising, cooking (occasionally), thinking about things, going on walks. I'm fairly simple. 4. How do you spend your NOT free time? (School, work, etc?) I think you guys know the answer here. 5. What makes you happy? family, friends, food, music, sleeping, dreams, YOU, nature, making other people happy, growing, animals

1. Where did you grow up? How did you like it? I grew up near Nantes (in the west of France) with my parents and my 2 older brothers. Although they were sometimes mean to me, like any sibling, most of the time, I had a lot of fun playing with them and now that we all live so far apart and that I only see them a few times a years, I really miss them. Nantes is an hour away from the ocean so I used to go there very often. I spent every holiday at my grandparents’ house on the coast with my brothers and cousins, I have the best memories from that time. 2. Where do you live now? How do you like it? I’ve been living in Paris (well, 10 meters away from it so it’s like I’m living in Paris haha) for 2 and a half years now. I came here for my studies. It was tough to leave my family behind at first but I now have awesome friends here and I don’t think I’ll be going back to live in Nantes soon. But then again, I don’t know what the future holds for me so we’ll see! I don’t love this city during the week, people are always stressed and in a rush but when the weekend comes and I go walking around town, and see the nice architecture and the monuments and parks, that’s when I enjoy it most. One of the downsides is that it’s very difficult (if not impossible) to find a place in Paris where you hear birds instead of cars, I miss nature when I’m here. However, there are a lot of concerts here which also makes me want to stay! 3. How do you like to spend your free time? Seeing my friends ; listening to some music and attending concerts (I’ve been to 109 concerts since 2007 to this day, I couldn’t live without going to see my favorites artists performing on stage) ; watching tv shows (I watch way too many of them if you ask me…) and movies ; and cooking (when I find the motivation to do it) . 4. How do you spend your NOT free time? (School, work, etc?) I am studying to become (not sure how to translate it so I’ll just put it like that) a preschool teacher (although I am most likely to work in a daycare than in a preschool). I’m currently doing a 6 months internship in an English speaking preschool which is basically the kind of place where I'd like to work after I graduate (hopefully) next July. The kids are 2-4 years old, some of them are adorable, others not so much, but I really like all those tiny humans anyway, they are always so happy and naive :) 5. What makes you happy? My family and friends ; cats but most of all seeing my little cat (18 years old) every time I go back to my parents’ place (which is about every 2 months) ; Music ; Going to concerts ; YOU ; Taking Naps ; Good food.
2014-11-22 22:33:36 +0000 UTCMade my way down here, so why not :) 1) Where did you grow up? How did you like it? Long Island, NY. Was a fun quiet low-key childhood. Much time spent with church family and family at home. There was barely times when we were not doing anything! 2) Where do you live now? How do you like it? I rent an apartment for Mon-Fri during the semester in Queens, NY. I generally like it, some independence, living with a roommate who is like a brother (and introduced me to your music) are all good experiences. I always pig out when I go home for the weekend though ;) 3) How do you like to spend your free time? I'm a sport junkie so going to any sporting event will get me going! If not, just time spent with my church family or family is just as fine as well. 4) Not Free Time Currently a student at Fordham University. It's interesting to study communications :) 5) What makes you happy Good music and a circle of friends and family that are always there for me

2014-08-08 04:14:56 +0000 UTC1. Where did you grow up? How did you like it? I grew up in the Suburbs of Salt Lake City. I had a lot of good friends, a field to ride our dirt bikes in, and all the geeky home electronics. We were the first to own a VCR and Atari 2600. It made our house the place for all kids to hang out. I also had 8 brothers and 1 little sister. 2. Where do you live now? How do you like it? I live in Salt Lake City, UT, in a cul-de-sac behind the scoreboard of the Bee’s Stadium Base Ball Field. I love where I live! Our neighbors are amazing! We have street parties many times a year, and the Ball Field always helps them out with Fireworks over our homes. There are a lot of great restaurants nearby; pretty much, within a mile to every kind of cuisine imaginable. We frequent the Taco Carts at lunch near by for some awesome $3 traditional Mexican Carne burritos! On the 24th of July, we always have a street party with a few live bands. Maybe one day, we could talk Kina and Jesse into performing! ;) 3. How do you like to spend your free time? In the GYM first thing in the morning is the BEST! But I cannot train with anyone other than my son, and even then, it is with headphones on and hitting it hard for an hour. I need that me time to myself. It sets the stage for the rest of my day. Without it, I am a mess. I also love traveling, scuba diving, and building things. Last summer I built the most amazing adult sized Tree House! 4. How do you spend your NOT free time? (School, work, etc?) I am a Sr. Software Architect for HP Enterprise Services, in the health care division. I work from home, which is why I am always on-line. My on-line friends are my coffee breaks and office social network. 5. What makes you happy? My wife and my kids are my dream come true. They are amazing, and I would do anything for them.

2014-08-08 04:10:19 +0000 UTC1. Where did you grow up? How did you like it? I grew up in Aiea, Hawaii. It's been a good home with friends and family nearby. 2. Where do you live now? How do you like it? At the current moment, I'm at home for the summer. I'm a college student and I normally am at the University of Portland. Sadly, I haven't been able to really explore Portland and experience what it has to offer. School takes up a lot of my time... 3. How do you like to spend your free time? Being with my girlfriend, listening to music, hanging out with friends, playing video games, and watching youtube. 4. How do you spend your NOT free time? (School, work, etc?) School mostly 5. What makes you happy? Spending time with my girlfriend, she goes to school here in Hawaii so most of the year I don't get to be with her. Also, thanks for the shoutout in your Ho Hey video :) Oh and if you ever come to Hawaii, pleaseee come in the summer time or when I'm home for christmas break!
2014-07-08 03:38:01 +0000 UTCYup! That was a really cool idea! It's definitely interesting to know where all the other Patrons come from and what they do in their free/not free time. I'm happy every time when a new comment was added. Thanks to everyone! :)
2014-07-07 22:36:49 +0000 UTCSorry this is so late. 1. Where did you grow up? How did you like it? I grew up in San Jose, CA. I loved it, being with friends and family all the time who I've grown up with. 2. Where do you live now? How do you like it? I live in Riverbank, CA. It's quiet, right now, it's quite warm, but it doesn't have a ton of active places. Since I lived in SoCal of a good 2 years then had to move back, it's definitely a debbie downer, especially without a beach within 15 minutes. I think I've come accustomed to SoCal life and perfect weather. I hope to be back within the next year. 3. How do you like to spend your free time? Sadly online with friends or watching movies at home. I don't have tons of friends in this area. If I wanted to hang out with my close friends I have to drive an hour in a half to two hours. So it's easier to go online with them. 4. How do you spend your NOT free time? (School, work, etc?) Lately it's been searching for a job and updating and running fansofkina and trying to workout and eat better. 5. What makes you happy? My family and friends are my everything and Music. Without those three I can not survive.
