Chapter 24: Not That Gun

Two rockets went off, and the lights in the house immediately went out.

Frank and John dropped their empty rocket launchers and grabbed their rifles, aiming them over the railing toward where the drug dealers might come out.

"Rubber, open the door!"

Arthur heard Frank's voice in his earpiece and followed Rubber's side, feeling bewildered and helpless because he didn't know what to do, where to position himself, whether to shoulder the rocket launcher or prepare to shoot.

Rubber, with a rocket launcher on his left shoulder and a rifle on his right, pushed Arthur aside sharply, saying sternly, "Go over there!"

He pulled something out of his pocket and stuck it on the wall pillar between the railing, then with his left hand holding his right, pushed Arthur again, saying, "Get out of the way."

Arthur felt like he was a burden that everyone despised.

Rubber crouched beside Arthur, raised his gun, aimed at the door, and whispered, "Get your rocket launcher ready!"

Arthur hurriedly shouldered the rocket launcher, and with a bang, the wall pillar connected to the iron railing collapsed.

Frank whispered, "Go!"

John was the first to jump over the broken fence, followed closely by Frank. At this moment, the door opened, and a person with a gun rushed out from behind the door.

Rubber fired two shots, and the first person who rushed out fell to the ground. At this point, John and Frank stopped advancing and quickly dodged to the sides.

Rubber shouted, "Kid, fire!"

Arthur hesitated for a moment, then immediately aimed the rocket launcher at the open door, without taking careful aim, and fired the rocket launcher.

Meeting the minimum firing distance requirement, the rocket flew into the door, followed by a loud explosion inside.

Achievement unlocked: Firing a Rocket Launcher.

The noise-canceling effect of the earphones was really good. The explosion sounded loud but not piercing, and there was no deafening feeling, which would not affect hearing, yet did not completely block out external sounds. Even footsteps and shouts could be heard clearly.

Arthur could hear screams from inside, as well as someone shouting in Spanish.

The timing of the rocket launcher's launch was just right.

Frank and Rubber opened fire again, both shooting at the people emerging from the garden outside, while Bottle Cap after the rocket exploded, rushed into the door opened by the enemy.

Frank followed closely behind, entering the house with John.

Now Arthur and Rubber were left outside.

Arthur dropped the empty rocket launcher and picked up his rifle, but at this moment, Rubber, with his gun in his right hand, tossed the rocket launcher in carry mode over to him with his left hand.

Hastily grabbing the rocket launcher, Arthur heard Rubber urgently say, "Be ready to fire the rocket launcher at any time!"

Just then, gunfire erupted inside the house, followed by continuous explosions. Then Frank urgently said over the radio, "Rubber, support! Kid, cover!"

Rubber picked up his gun and ran, shouting at Arthur, "Open fire freely, shoot at anyone you see!"

Arthur was numb. This was his first time in combat, but everyone treated him like a veteran. Since that was the case, then... he'd just go with it.

Rubber also rushed in, and then Arthur heard John urgently say over the earpiece, "Grenades, grenades! On the left!"

He hadn't heard any gunfire yet, but after John shouted, there were immediately two explosions, followed shortly by a third.

Gunfire paused briefly, and then Frank urgently said, "Cover!"

Gunfire erupted again, and not long after, Arthur heard John urgently say, "Damn it! Kid, come in quick!"

Arthur hesitated for a moment, then slung the rocket launcher behind him, held his rifle in both hands and ran in.

His mind was a bit chaotic, but he wasn't afraid. However, there were no lights now, and he only realized when he rushed into the entrance that it was pitch black inside.

He reached up and unclipped the night vision goggles on his helmet, and then a greenish scene appeared before his eyes: a large living room with several bodies lying around, and Rubber standing behind a door with his gun raised.

Arthur ran to Rubber because Frank had told him to stick with Rubber before the battle started. But as soon as he took a few steps, he heard John say, "Come to me!"

Arthur turned and went to John's side. John first pulled two grenades from Arthur's chest and then whispered in a very low voice, "Go to the end of the living room and fire the rocket launcher into this room through that door. It's a closed-space firing model, and the distance is enough. Don't be afraid, hurry up!"

Ordinary rocket launchers cannot be fired in enclosed spaces as they can harm the shooter. However, some specialized models can be fired in narrow, enclosed spaces, which is what Arthur was carrying.

It was unclear what was happening inside, but it seemed they couldn't open the tightly closed door. Arthur's rocket launcher was an armor-piercing and anti-personnel round, so it could easily blast open a door, even if it was reinforced.

Arthur ran back to the farthest corner from the door, estimating that he was definitely more than ten meters away, and immediately pressed the firing mechanism.

Who could withstand a rocket explosion inside a house? After a loud bang, a hole appeared in the door, and then the room exploded.

The shockwave filled the room with dust, and the tightly closed door was damaged. John swiftly ran to the door and kicked it open with a violent kick. He then threw a grenade inside before running to the side of the door.

After the grenade exploded, John and Rubber rushed in at the same time. One slid to his knees, and the other turned sideways, immediately opening fire after entering the room.

After a series of gunshots, John shouted, "Clear!"

Now there was no sound at all, no gunfire, no explosions, and even the screams that had just been heard were silenced after the continuous gunfire.

Frank quickly said, "Two people per group, check all the rooms, find Juan, don't leave anyone alive. Also, drug lords usually have a lot of cash in their homes. Hurry, hurry!"

Arthur didn't know what to do, but after hearing Frank's words, he immediately went into the house.

Behind the door blasted open by the rocket, there were seven bodies. After flipping over a man in a suit, John exclaimed in surprise, "Juan! Found Juan, is this him?"

Finding Juan's body completed the primary objective, but Arthur didn't know what Juan looked like.

Frank ran over, took a look, and immediately said, "Matches the description. Take a photo to confirm, then quickly search the remaining rooms. We'll withdraw in two minutes. Hurry!"

Excitedly, John said to Arthur, "Come with me."

Arthur followed John, who hurried to a door with glass in the middle. Arthur thought it should be a bathroom.

Even though Juan had been killed, John remained vigilant. He reached the door of the bathroom and whispered, "Get ready."

Arthur aimed his gun at the door, and John slowly grabbed the handle, then suddenly pushed the door open. The bathroom was silent, so John quickly rushed in.

After John entered, Arthur suddenly heard a gunshot, followed by John's shout. Then there was a continuous sound of gunfire from the bathroom.

Arthur's mind went blank, and he subconsciously followed.

Several people were lying on the ground. Someone had grabbed the barrel of John's rifle, and another person behind John was hitting him on the head with something.

When Arthur saw this, he instinctively thrust his gun out. The barrel hit the man with the stick on the nose. Arthur then retracted the gun, shouted, and thrust the gun out again, this time stabbing the enemy in the throat.

Arthur used the rifle as if it were the spear he had practiced with for over ten years. It was truly unavoidable. In such an emergency, habits developed over more than ten years were not easy to change.

Using a rifle, without a bayonet, to knock down a person didn't take much time for Arthur. Then, with a turning kick, he kicked the enemy who was fighting John in the side.

The enemy groaned, his body swayed, but he didn't fall or release John's rifle. Arthur shouted angrily and thrust his rifle towards the enemy's head again.

In an instant, John let go of his rifle, drew his pistol from his leg holster, and shot the enemy who had not let go of him twice.

The enemy fell, and John turned around, aiming his gun at the person Arthur had stabbed down. He was immediately surprised. "Ha, who said you can't fight!"

The man who had been stabbed in the throat, not shot, was rolling in pain. His larynx had been crushed, his trachea severely damaged, making breathing impossible, and blood kept bubbling from his mouth.

After shooting the rolling enemy dead, John said again, "Why didn't you shoot?"

Arthur felt extremely ashamed. He had a gun in his hand, and all he needed to do was pull the trigger to solve the problem. However, he had used the rifle like a spear, which made him feel embarrassed.

"I, I..."

"Is it because you're more used to martial arts? But your strength is a bit weak."

Only John was in the mood to discuss martial arts at this moment. Arthur was extremely nervous. He was afraid that more people would come out, so he quickly walked forward with his gun and saw three more people.

"There are people! Hey, it's... it's Tova!"

Three people were lying on the bathroom floor. Arthur couldn't see very clearly through the night vision goggles, but after a closer look, he was surprised to find that one of them was Tova.

John, unimpressed, said, "It's them. Okay, go check the other rooms."

"Don't go, save me, save me..."

The one speaking wasn't Tova, who had been kidnapped twice, but a stranger. He looked extremely weak, covered in blood, and was struggling to lift his head, pleading with Arthur, "Save me, I can give you a lot of money!"
