Unfortunately, people often have to pacify whoever they’re turning down for fear of violence, threats or stalking. If someone won’t take no for an answer, stay calm, stay firm, stay safe.

"No" is a complete sentence. Sometimes we think we've gotta strategize everything and justify, and on and on and on. But in most life situations people don't want or need any of that. And even if they ask, it doesn't mean we have to tell them or, God forbid, lie. Short, sweet, to the point, romantically or otherwise.
