❤️ 🍵 Tea’s Recommendations 🍵 ❤️ [December 2022] [Things I Like That You Might Like Too]
Added 2022-12-05 12:37:56 +0000 UTCYo, Teacups!
If you haven’t seen one of these posts before, this is just what it says on the tin - a recommendations post. Sometimes I get caught in a cycle of the same movies, books, activities, and whatever else. If you also suffer from this, I hope this small collection of recommendations can be of some help.
P.S. These are obviously just things I like and if you don’t like them too, then that’s absolutely a-okay ❤️
✨Movies/Series:✨
Lady Chatterly’s Lover (2022):
Tis the season to snuggle up, get cozy and let the yearning for romance take full hold! Lady Chatterly’s Lover is a sensual and surprisingly touching story about two people connecting through sex. Based on the scandalous (for its time) book, the movie explores the relationship between Lady Chatterly and her game keeper, Oliver Mellows. With (fundamentally) accurate portrayals of sex, female pleasure and the highs and lows of intimacy, this is a brilliant film for an afternoon of romantic indulgence. Honestly, I’m underselling this one. It’s wonderfully acted, set with a beautiful score, and actually delves deep into how sex connects us to others. Highly recommend :)
Wednesday (2022):
Despite my love for the 90’s movies, I can say with full confidence that the Wednesday series does not disappoint. The cast are brilliant, the effects are great, and it truly honours its source material, whilst also updating the character and giving her a new arc. It’s funny, camp, and very in keeping with the spirit of The Addams Family. Great show, lots of fun to be had, honestly just worth the hype :)
How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000):
I will hear no arguments - Jim Carrey is the best Grinch! Period! For so many reasons, How The Grinch Stole Christmas is my ultimate winter movie! The memes, the sass, the jokes that flew right over my head as a kid - its got it all. If you love camp-ery, nonsense humour and doggos, you’ll adore it!

Make Christmas Presents/Christmas Food:
Tis also the season to save money and show love through means besides financial. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with giving gifts or spending money. It can be so lovely gifting someone something they’ve been wanting. However, there’s also something to be said for realising that Christmas is just a day and we don’t have to get into debt to prove our love. My family and I have agreed to keep it simple and sweet this year. But that doesn’t mean it has to be grinch-y. Not at all.
Instead of getting someone something expensive, I’ve decided to be an old sap and make everyone something. I’m not the best example of DIY-ing, since I have limited skills - but since when have I let that stand in my way?
So, besides one individual present, I’m also baking everyone something. I know it’s not exactly original, but it doesn’t have to be. My family loves food, and so do I. It’s something we connect over. So, why not show love through the things we all enjoy. I’ve thrifted everyone a biscuit tin and I’m filling them all with sweet treats. To quote a favourite meme of mine, “it ain’t much, but it’s honest work”.
So, maybe this is something you could do at home. Or not. We’re all different and gifting looks different for all of us. Whatever you gift, however you feel about Christmas and money, just know it’s what we do all year round that means something - not just any one day. Don’t put a pressure on yourself where there doesn’t need to be one. Relax, unwind and just enjoy being quiet with your loved ones :)
Ask Yourself - What Do I Really Want?:
There is something to be said for simply asking yourself, “what do I want?”. And what better time than at Christmas? Something about Holidays makes us contemplate, wonder and yearn. So, why not put those pesky feelings to use?
Ask yourself - Do I want to fall in love, do I want to chase that job, do I want a dog, do I want to move to Iceland, do I want to leave things with my brother as they are, or do I want to talk about it?
I’ve been doing it a lot lately. And the truth is, I want to keep growing, I want to be a good dog mom to my fur babies, I want my mom’s health to improve, I want my family to know how much I love them, and eventually, maybe, I want to find someone to fall in love with. So, if that’s the case, I guess I better start thinking about how I can work towards that.
Maybe it’s something we’d all benefit from.
Remember: sometimes your brain is just a dick, doesn’t mean it’s right.
You can change your life, you can move forward, you can have what you want.
Get Drunk Home Alone & Be Stupid:
Whether it’s a glass of wine, a whisky or shot after shot - just let yourself go. You’re safe in your home, you have free rein, you are master of your domain. Put on music, eat too much cake, and just let yourself tap into that inner six-year-old who dreamed of this moment. Paradise is right here, and it’s in tapping into those moments of not giving a flying fuck. The fun I’ve had roaming around my house, music echoing, my victorian nightgown flapping behind me.
Fun is underrated. And sometimes, it’s found right inside of us and the child we never really shake off.
Have fun. Be weird. Be free :)
