Run, Spot, Run

A couple of the hi-res spot illos from SGR book 4 (The Retribution Index) were gone when I went to put together the Comixology edition (should be up in a few weeks), so I had to redraw them. Don’t go to this book looking for visual consistency. There are drawings in there from 2004, 2011, 2017 and 2020. I tried to fake my old style but I couldn't do it so I had to give in and just draw them how I draw now. The whole book is a hodgepodge of styles. Some of it was drawn in Adobe Illustrator, which I had got used to and was quite sharp at, but a few interludes were drawn with pen and ink in a less polished way. I find it quite charming now. Quite.
The original drawings are from 2005 - they will have been done with a Staedtler pigment liner. I certainly had the confidence to wield a thick line! I don't know how to draw like this any more. I've learned too much to let the quirks in. I have entirely new faults now.
