2025-06-20 08:20:43 +0000 UTCI actually like some of the concepts from The Word - the crowd being annoyed at the host/guests and about to riot, painfully awkward pauses left in, and the "I'll do anything to be on TV'" segment had such disdain for their own audience that I admire it. But....the show. I can't get through an episode. I think they needed a stronger host that was willing to play the straight man. That's right - they needed Johnny Vaughan.

2025-06-07 12:57:11 +0000 UTCWhen he was touring the UK, Bill Hicks's agent had him doing this and TV-AM as his media promo gigs. That's a very broad audience appeal, I think you'll agree. Also, in his defence, the US talk show circuit pretty much required guest comedians to recite most of their routines instead of having actual conversations.
