It's like a Roy Castle-centric take on the old 'crisp packets for computers/a disabled boy wants postcards or birthday cards' classroom collecting legends.

From memory, yes it is about beans, but the "Robert Pershing Wadlow" bit has really dominated my brain since the first time I heard it, so I may be misremembering.

Sorry to flood the comments but now remembering the Record Breakers Record Breaking Chain Letter attempt hoax/scam thing that hit my 84-91 primary school - remember being disappointed I didn't know enough people/other kids to send the letter to who hadn't already had it, and wouldn't get a chance to be at least mentioned on the programme. (We also had massive school hype abut sending letters to Jim'll Fix It, thought about sending one (encouraged by my mum, eek) cos I was into space rockets, then realised I didn't actually want to have to go into space, or be on the telly)

Now looking for that Record Breakers album on discogs and getting disappointed that Record Breakers '88 isn't a load of songs about giant Domino Rallies but a compilation with Never Gonna Give You Up. (Found the real thing and for a moment thought the song about ROBERT WADLOW was called Robert Perishing Wadlow, like Roy's got sick of everybody constantly mentioning Robert Wadlow). eta: is the song Cold Baked Beans about a record breaking attempt to sit in a baked bean bath like everybody did once for charity.
