Patreon Issues
Added 2023-11-17 19:42:58 +0000 UTCWe've been discussing this in the #patrons-only channel on Discord a bit, but I wanted to update all patrons about what happened with the Alexandrian Hangout last night.
Here's what appears to have happened:
1. I sent a message that should have been delivered to all paid members of Hangout-eligible tiers.
2. Not everyone who was supposed to receive this message got it. It is unclear how many people were affected.
3. Multiple people who are Basic Tier members (which is not a Hangout tier) nevertheless received the message. Again, it's unclear how many people were affected.
In diagnosing the issue, I've also become aware that there are some Patrons who I was just literally unable to send messages to last night. This issue appears to have been cleared up this afternoon.
The short version here is that something was broken inside Patreon. I have not yet received any explanation from Patreon for what the problem was, if it's been fully corrected, or what action is being taken to prevent it from happening again in the future.
My apologies to everyone affected by this issue. As noted, I don't have a solution at the moment, but I wanted to let you know that I'm aware of it and I'm working on it.
