Last weekend we attended the Southern California Boat Show at Calibro Marina. This is near L.A., we were lucky enough to get a room right at the marina! This made getting back and forth pretty easy. This is only the 2nd year for the show, we didn't know how great it would be due to it's young age. We ended up being pleasantly surprised!
The sail side was smaller than the Annapolis show but about the same as the Miami Boat show. The quality of boats made up for any shortage of boats, however. We saw beautiful monohauls as well as catamarans. As a lot of shows have, it had more production boats than anything but they did have a few classic monohauls that were absolutely breath taking.
It took us by surprise but we ended up falling in love with a Lagoon 42! The Lagoon 38 felt a bit tight and the Lagoon 50 just didn't tickle our fancy! We also thought that if we were going to consider a cat, we'd like it to have 4 berths and 3 heads. However, after this boat tour we've realized that we really like the owners version...The less heads the better! Jeremiah was always for that honestly, less stuff equals less stuff breaking in his book lol.
So we loved it...But it was new and extremely pricey at $550,000 for the asking price...Hey, it's a start! We're off to see some lovely classics this weekend! Stay tuned!!
