Big Announcements!
Added 2017-08-05 20:58:37 +0000 UTCHappy Saturday everyone! We hope you're having a wonderful day...Today we're in the middle of planning and taking care of a few items for some big moves coming our way.
First, you guys and gals have been so amazing to us! We get messages each day from Patrons telling wonderful stories and sharing beautiful dreams...It's truly amazing how this little sailing adventure has provided us with such wonderful friendships. You all are amazing and we truly appreciate you.
Ok...big news!!! First, you're going to see some changes on YouTube here soon. The trailers for videos will be going away and we will gradually be putting up YouTube versions for the past few videos. Vimeo will stay the same with our longer, more fun episodes and you'll maintain access to that. Jessica and Trevor have gone back for their school year unfortunately, so that frees up some time for us to handle YouTube again. Taking a break has been great and it absolutely helped us take more time to enjoy the children while here...But we have missed the fun of it.
Even larger news?! Yep! So here's the plan! PATRONS ONLY EXCLUSIVE!!
We're in San Diego right now after dropping Jess and Trev off. We had a wedding in the Rocky Mountains to attend along the way so we made it a trip across the country. Next we will be launching back across the country for Key West where the Gecko is. The big stuff takes place once we arrive!
We're going to empty out the Gecko, put her on the hard for some much needed maintenance (bimini, dodger, other covers and a bottom job)...The switch up however is that we are putting her up FOR SALE! Oh my goodness, I can't even believe I typed that LOL (She's our baby...sniff)
Only Patrons know this as of now but we've decided to upgrade our boat. We absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this sailing life and we want to go far with it. With that, the Gecko was a trial, we're now ready to go "all in" and get a dreamy large sailboat.
So we will be announcing that on an upcoming video, hoping she sells fairly quickly on the hard in Key West. Then it's crunch time where we will be traveling all around looking for the perfect boat. We still plan to take off after Hurricane Season.
So Patrons, we have our ideas but what are yours?! Large monohull? Cat? Tell us what you think!
Love,
Jeremiah and Brittany

2017-08-12 21:29:35 +0000 UTCHappy to see you continuing your adventures. As with most choices it is a personal choice. Today's cats are just as capable as a mono hull. Look at both, which I know you will and choose what YOU want.
2017-08-12 21:28:08 +0000 UTCExcited to hear you're upgrading, congratulations! As with any decision, you need to determine your mission profile and then look for boats that fit that profile. Based on the hundreds of videos I've watch, which isn't the same as experiencing it first hand like others above, I'd suggest (1) a mono if you want a more of a blue water experience or (2) a cat if you want more of an island hopper / cruising experience. Also noted above, Sailing Doodles describes the differences between the two quite well, so look him up or watch some of the recent videos. I'd get in touch with the Delos tribe too. Here are some of the items that would sway my decision: (1) mono seems to 'ride' better when sailing, especially as the weather/seas get worst; (2) cats have LOTS of room, so might fit y'all better with the kids; (3) cats have a higher noise factor with the waves against the hulls (at anchor); (4) mono will roll with the wind and load factor while a cat must be reefed by the book; and etc.
2017-08-08 16:51:02 +0000 UTCI vote mono. If you're cruising you will eventually hit heavy weather. Less possible failure points in a mono in my opinion. Less room too but it's a decision that's full of trade offs. Just be sure it's sound, have it surveyed and have your own list of things to check based on experience. Don't settle too quickly. And please keep those videos coming. You're a part of our lives now. Hugs
2017-08-06 19:00:57 +0000 UTCSo excited for you! That's going to be awesome! I vote monohull because you get so much more boat for your money. But, Cats are nice for comfort, and the little guy would have so much more room on a cat.
2017-08-06 16:42:25 +0000 UTCFirst of all welcome back to SoCal (We're in Palm Springs.) We're going to add our vote for a catamaran. Personally I have only sailed large mono hulls (43-51 feet) in the Caribbean and Sea of Cortez, but after spending a day on a Leopard 43 last year I am convinced that for cruisers a cat is the way to go. You might take a look at Sailing Doodles, also on YouTube who just upgraded to a Lagoon. Also Sailing Trio sails a nice cat. My cousin is a yacht designer (he designed the Leopard) and he is convinced that within 5 years all bareboats will be cats. I hope it works out for you!

2017-08-06 15:25:29 +0000 UTCGreat news and we vote for a Catamaran!
2017-08-06 12:59:24 +0000 UTCI think you would have room on a cat but I think you may lose some of the sailing feeling?
