Hi everyone! After a few days of 6 hour drives and long hours prepping our boat (which looks like a dump right now) the boat is as prepared as we can make it. Everything that could be removed and stowed is. There are a few items we're concerned about like our windvane and bimini frame (which we reinforced) but we couldn't do anything about them. Sailing Uma left their complete dodger up and it lasted so hopefully our frame will. It's pretty strong so keeping fingers crossed. We also removed the outboard and secured Taco more than you see here.
The boat is in a very protected marina in Palm Coast. It's in a slip designed for 60' yachts so the floating docks and cleats are extremely strong. We have 12 strong lines holding her along with 8 fenders along the starboard side. The marina is surrounded by high trees and is in sort of a hole so we hope that will help with wind, it's also very far from any major inlets, like 30 miles. So we're hoping that will help with the surge.
There's a mandatory evacuation for the marina area but we know of lots of people are staying on their boats. There is no way we'd stay for this storm with a baby onboard. We thought about Jeremiah staying but decided to secure her up and wait it out in Tampa. Why risk it? It's a boat and is replaceable. He really wanted to but I convinced him otherwise! ;)
Either way, we hope and pray for everyone safety. Objects are replaceable. We all are not! Thank you for being patient for our "Patron Only" posts! They take more time than the regular stuff.
So what to do? We've decided to stop, take a break, try not to stress. I'm going to dress up all hot for Jeremiah and we're gonna drink rum! Message us if you want, we should be around!!
