Changes on Animations / Posters
Added 2023-03-05 14:25:55 +0000 UTCHey everyone, hope you are doing fine!
So, I'd like your opinion on some ideas I've had to change a few things about the animations/posters. As you might have noticed I usually try to make 3 animations (~4 mins long) per month which includes 3 poster sets (of these animations) + 1 poster set from the Poster of the Month (PotM). In total 3 animations and 4 posters.
I've been thinking on keeping that volume but, changing 1 animation to a short (30-40 seconds looped). That means no ending scene but, I can have more time to experiment and learn new things like geometry nodes, make more scenes, rework more models etc. Of course, the Animation of the Month (AotM) will stay with an ending scene, which takes the most time to make/render.
Also, I'm thinking of reducing the volume of the posters from, usually, 50-60 to 30ish. This saves a bit time that could go to more realistic animations.
I was thinking this because I plan on building a monster of a workstation soon, which means I'll be changing to cycles (VR users get ready), so I don't know if it's gonna be faster or slower (for reference I got the gtx1070 oc, 6600k oc, 16gb ddr4 ram) old and basic. My plan is to upgrade to rtx4090, 13900k, 64gb with room for 128gb ddr5 ram in the future. The cost of that, well, it's on many Ks, so will it be faster? Yeah, but will cycles be faster with more assets/reflections/shadows/physics on scene, I have no idea. I know I won't have to render each major change of the animation on low quality so I can see the workflow, I;ll just play it on the viewport, or wait 4-5 hours to bake the fluid every time I make a change. Workflow is gonna be faster, but render times in 4k non the less. I dunno. That's why I'm trying to get ready for it, so I won't keep you waiting.
