David Bowie was in several things after this. He was in the movie The Prestige for starters, several years later

Shame there wasn't a bit more Bowie, but at least what there was of him was quality. That whole scene in the club with him singing was so great, and I can only imagine how horrible and awkward and heartbreaking that would be if you were Andy. But I'm sure you know how it goes as an artist. When inspiration strikes, you've just gotta jump on it. Shame it was in a club full of people when it happened here for Bowie. I do wonder who actually wrote that. Did Bowie have a hand in it or was it pure Ricky flexing his song writing muscles from way back. Great stuff as usual Miss Mandibles π€, keep 'em comin' And as far as this Tiger goes, consider 'em got! Mata ne!

The late David Bowie is one of Ricky's music heroes. So it must have been something for him to get him on the show.
The song scene was pure cringe. Maggie's expressions of smiling, then not when Andy looks at her, are priceless.
But if you analyse the whole 2nd half of the episode, it's a little deeper than what it seems.
From when they went to the first pub, where that guy (who you will see again in Derek and After Life) said he thought Andy was great (with the wig, the glasses and the catchphrase) and didn't leave him alone, to the VIP place, where he was treated badly by Bowie and other peers, Andy decided to return to the pub, with the 'normal' people and to that group who actually appreciated him and it made him realise that he could embrace it and appreciate it himself. Praise doesn't have to come from high up.
Ricky is also very good at nuance.
'Tarmac' in the UK happens to be a brand name of asphalt which is what surfaces our roads. It gets used here in the same way that people use 1 brand name for products (i.e. Hoover is the term for any make of vacuum cleaner, to Xerox something is to photocopy something, even if it's on a Canon machine, and even when people say 'it's been Photoshopped' no matter what art package was used).
Great episode, great reaction!

Great reaction Mandy! π
Definitely one of the most uncomfortable episodes! It's really dialled up in this episode and while he is his own worst enemy, you can't help feeling sorry for Andy. He wants attention and he got attention, just not the kind of attention he wanted.
Shaun Pye as Greg is brilliant. So sickly smug you want to slap him! He plays that so well!
I love David Bowie, of course. Not many peoole don't. He went to the same school as my dad, which is something I never forget to mention every time I see him in something! πππ

I don't know if this has already been recommended and is on your list already but I recommend adding the tv series Benidorm to your list, it was a really funny show, it ran for 10 series and was about a family on holiday (vacation) in Benidorm, Spain.

At 3:19, you couldn't make out what the Japanese gentleman was saying. Well, he was saying "Is he having a laugh?" It's funny because that's what Ray says.
There was another future Taskmaster contestant on this episode. Future if watching Taskmaster at Mandy Cane Lane pace. In reality, she, he or they were on it a number of years ago.
Lisa Tarmac, I mean Tarbuck, sang the theme tune to When The W Blows as well as staring in it. I think the theme tune is a better song than David Bowie's hate filled anthem. I did like this episode overall but I didn't enjoy that bit because it felt like it was only there to give David Bowie something to do. David Bowie didn't need to be in this episode.
W = Whistle.

"Greasy spoon" is a general term for a cheap restaurant or cafe that serves mostly fried food. Dirty, greasy, vinyl tablecloths, those electric fly zappers, a chain-smoking cook, frequented by construction workers, "full English breakfast" for Β£2. Admittedly it's been a while since I have eaten in such a place. π€£
