0.4 Development Update 27

Hey, folks!

It’s out! It’s finally out! v0.4.8, that is. This update was excruciating for me, and I presume incredibly frustrating for most of you. As I said in the previous update, I expect to mostly breeze through it after dealing with the life stuff, but instead I waddled and waddled and it’s over for now.

As it’s always the case, the blame lies square with me. I wanted to complete Naomi’s new arc, but it introduced a fair bit of the new characters, and new locations for good old Dun Eideann. And I kept adding little bits to the story, and each time I do that I have to check if the visuals will still flow, and sometimes redo some renders. And there were always some issues with renders in general. Beards clipping, streets not making sense. And the city is supposed to be in the middle of the industrial revolution (uh, spoilers, I guess?) so there are “new” and “old” neighborhoods, and I tried to show those interlacing and merging, and completely failed, but still spent a lot of time on that, and ghhhh...

Anyway. It’s out. There won’t be an Alpha 2, only an inclusion of 4 more hidden objects for Beta. Wanted to get them into Alpha, but I still need to tinker with some of the CGs. Teasers below, and you’ll be able to see why some additional work is required.

Now it’s on to the next update. Naomi’s story is ripe for a huge breakthrough, but it’ll have to wait. I want to advance Lyriel’s and Cait’s storylines, and then Lady Sirenia has been on my The List since Spring, and... Well, you get the picture.

State of the Game post is overdue, will try to get it out next Friday. And the next poll will start on Tuesday. Will try to do a CG set on Sunday, but maybe will have to delay it till Monday. I need to catch up on a week’s worth of chores and errands. See you soon!
