SO, Matthew, my man! Thought I'd jot down some comments along the way:
- It's SO funny how you pick up your Apple Pencil when you're scared 😛
- Jamie Lynn Spears LOLOL. Jamie Lee Curtis is a legend, don't disrespect her like that bro hahaha. She's in 2018 and 2021 too and you'll love her by the end.
- The kid with a razor blade in his mouth: for decades there was this myth that some bad people put razor blades in trick-or-treat candy or apples to hurt kids. Totally untrue but it's a longstanding urban legend. In fact, "Urban Legend" (1998) is another good slasher movie you could watch!
- All the stabbings in these movies, and you wince at the syringe/tetanus shot hahaha.
- Obviously you find out that the dude who's burned to death in the car crash isn't Michael. What you may not realise is that they say his name is Ben Tramer: that's the same guy Laurie says she has a crush on in the first movie.
- Glad you realised that the cops/news media are talking about the same three people from the last movie.
- Hahahahaha I love your comparison of the female news reporter to Gale Weathers (even though you say Gale Winters lol). Such a cool observation!
- Yeah the dead girl was Annie Brackett, the Sheriff's daughter. You saw them both in the first movie. The Sheriff will also be in the 2021 movie, 40 years later.
- "Good shit, good shit! Fuck Michael" - loved your reaction when the mob was wrecking the Myers house :-D
- I think it's awesome that you don't even comment when boobs appear on screen - I feel like a lot of reactors would. Good for you... boobs aren't even my thing but I probably would have said something!
- I don't have any more comments as I was too engrossed in the movie, as you were... but I fucking LMAO at the end when you finally realised it was Gale Weathers, not Winters.
I agree with you, it's a great movie but not particularly scary. Honestly, when you watch 2018 you're gonna see a HUGE difference...

P.S. There are even compilations of all the "pumpkin credits" of every single Halloween movie on YouTube, hahaha. That's how much they're loved.

HAHAHAHA you asked me "why the fuck was that a 5-min intro". It's actually only 3 minutes but, I know, it seems longer. There's a few reasons: first, don't forget that this is a pretty old movie. It was still common at the time to have long credits at the start of films.
The main reason, though, is that you need to understand the original 1978 movie's opening credits were very, very popular. While it was normal in that era to have lengthy opening credits, they were usually much more elaborate, and had a big orchestral theme (think classic Bond movies).
Instead, Halloween (1978) just had a Jack-o-Lantern on a black background, and the iconic theme tune of the movie. For the time, this was incredibly creepy and scary.
Audiences loved those credits, and still do. That's why, for Halloween II (1981), the movie had similar credits: a Jack-o-Lantern, with the same terrifying theme music, only this time with the pumpkin slowly rotting.
When you watch the 2018 and 2021 movies, you'll see how they use this same style of credits in a clever way! They're just as much a part of the series as Michael and Laurie, so enjoy them!
