Trip to Spain and AK-Interactive!

My friends, here are some photos from the Spain trip. It's been an adventurous journey, and it took me a couple of days to recover from everything!

First of all, I went there to film a short interview segment for AK. I don't exactly know when and where this will come out, but it will at some point! Second, I discussed a few things and exchanged some ideas with Fernando. I don't have things signed on paper yet, so I don't want to jinx anything, but long story short, we discussed some kind of cooperation. I brought back lots of paints, mostly AK 3rd Gen acrylics and some weathering enamels, and a few handy tools :)

They showed us the entire AK building - the warehouse, the offices, the hobby store, and most importantly, the museum! Oh, and what a sight that was. The entire section on the left in photo 3 documents the history of model making - from clay archeological artefacts through wooden ships, first plastic kits to what we know today, and I think there were some 3D printed models as well.

The rest was about having a good time and sightseeing. We explored the town Logrono, and we particularly liked the park. On Sunday, my friend Oscar Ebrí and his family joined us and drove us around to see some more interesting stuff. Me being a more nature-oriented guy, I particularly liked the metal bull and the countryside around it, and the old Roman bridge. I couldn't keep my eyes off the Spanish landscape. You could see snow-covered mountains in the north, large fields, giant hills made of dirt that looked like they were man-made, pine trees, palm trees, cacti, it was wonderful! On Monday we went to Madrid and spent some time in the large park, and even got a bit sun-tanned. We experienced sun, rain, cold, and warm temperatures. Oscar was so kind to lend me a hoodie, otherwise I would catch a cold!

So why was it adventurous? Well, our flight got delayed by 1 hour, and because of this, we didn't catch the bus from Madrid to Logrono. Not keeping us stranded in Madrid, Elena from AK quickly found us train tickets to Valladolid and then to Miranda de Ebro. Fernando was so kind to drive and pick us up in his car, because as he said, it was nearby, although it was well past midnight! (not to mention in Spain, "nearby" means 40km there and 40km back).

On Monday, we took a bus back to Madrid airport, and then took a taxi to the park. Puerta de Alcala was, sadly, under reconstruction, but even worse, when we took the taxi back, I didn't realize our flight was leaving from Terminal 1, not 4. So we had to take a shuttle to the correct terminal, and managed everything just in time.

At the end of every day I felt absolutely exhausted, but it was a beautiful trip. We didn't manage to taste any of the local cuisine, as our food consisted roughly of 50% gas station meals and 50% overly expensive burgers :D Because I don't drink, no wine tasting either.

I tried to pick up the slack by working on the WW1 trench scene again, and I'm currently working hard to make it ready for painting tomorrow or the day after, because I want to finish it in a reasonable amount of time. You left me a lot of messages and e-mails in the meantime, so it'll take me a while to go through all of them! :)
