Base done, time for figures
Added 2023-02-14 13:34:49 +0000 UTCMy friends, I finished the base yesterday. Compared to my previous post, it has some painted stones, and a dry-brush. I tried painting the large stones in the front in more greyish and lighter tones, as this is the supposed "dig site". The remaining rocks on the meadow are rather small and randomly spaced. Once they were all blocked in, I drybrushed the ground with Rainmarks Effect - the same light dust paint I used on the model. This method is so effective, because it doesn't just lighten the ground and bring out its texture, but it also makes the painted rocks look less cartoony! Once all of this was finished, I painted the sides of the base with Tamiya flat black.
Now, the figures... as I mentioned, it's very hard to find something usable for this model. This is a combination of two sets from Panzer Art and a sitting tanker from Evolution. The uniforms might not be 100% accurate to German artillery crew uniforms, but I'll paint them in appropriate colors and they should look close enough - at least to my eye :)
I know the figures are nothing original, and this model would shine with 10+ figures in interesting poses, but that's simply beyond my capacity. The main goal here is to give it some life, show the size of the thing, and, let's not forget, get it finally done! :)))
