My friends, the stowage is done, and it was a pretty fun experience!
I started with the hard stowage as this needs some basic weathering techniques as well, and I don't like it when enamel paints or thinners seep into painted tarps. Some of the stuff, like the canteens, isn't very detailed, so "sculpting with a paintbrush" came in super handy here - basically emphasizing details that are too mushy.
Painting large tarps with a brush isn't as easy, but perfectly doable. The results are not perfect, but some subtle staining and weathering should tie everything together. I had to repaint one of the tarps because a light, warm tone (old wood + iraqi sand) didn't really work here.
The most noticeable thing is how the stowage gives the tank a warmer feeling, even though I used mostly dull, desaturated tones. This is very crucial as it's part of the overall color composition. Greyish tarps work best with winter vehicles, although here it wasn't quite possible as it would provide almost zero contrast with the tank.
Up next is weathering! I might not use the figure at all because I don't quite feel like painting it, but also, I'll be moving my studio again, so the tank needs to be finished and at the same time look good. Wish me luck!
