Here's our little rust bucket

My friends, the basic colors and effects on the Pz IV are done.

I wasn't sure how to approach a tank sunken in a river, but I knew it should be kept simple, especially on the hull as this part will be completely submerged. As I started applying the rust tones, the idea was suddenly becoming clearer. So the hull is generally rustier than the turret, and this should serve as a good layout for the more complicated effects.

Once I paint all the details in their respective colors... then I can think about the weathering! :D So the idea is this - some generic weathering on the turret, some debris and dust on the roof, and the hull might have some accumulations of mud and debris caught around details and under the turret - of course, in the direction of flowing water! Also, earth tones on the turret = light and dry, while on the hull = dark and wet.

It will most likely look weird AF without context, but it should click together once the tank is sitting in epoxy water.

By the way, the color palette so far was simple: black primer, panzer grey post-shaded with white (all Tamiya), then Ammo Shader around details, flat varnish, pinwash, quick chipping with a sponge followed by brushed chips (Vallejo Dark Rust), and finally rust washes.

This looks fantastic. You diorama ideas are very creative. Simple, yet elegant and eye catching.
