All dirtied up!

My friends, this time I'm coming with a load of photos from a new phone with better camera 😊 Close-ups are sweet, even better than my DSLR. Besides, the camera on the iPhone XS was getting a bit outdated, so I upgraded to 12 Pro (the new 13 is out of stock everywhere).

So now there will be better photos and in other news, I've got the weathering done. Stowage was left until the very end because I want to try if it's going to be a better approach. The problem I always experience is that enamel earth and grime colors kinda mess up the shading and detail painting on stowage, so maybe painting and weathering it separately after the model is finished might lead to better results... I don't know yet!

Other than that, the rest of the weathering was about adding darker tones into corners, creating various stains and streaking effects and adding some subtle visual texture using the speckling method and very diluted dark paints. Mostly Earth, Dark Brown wash and Engine Grease oil paint. And, of course, the most boring technique ever - polishing edges with graphite! 😁

Despite adding all these dark tones I still tried to retain the dry, dusty look. Whether I succeeded or failed is up to your judgment - it's easy to get carried away, but the possible contrasts are very tempting 😁

And yeah, now I'm not ashamed to show the right-hand side anymore, the failed rust spot got toned down pretty hard!
