Some quick weathering

My friends, the basic tools video turned out beautifully! I probably spent more time setting up the lights and camera than filming, needless to say it's a true night shift episode because I filmed it at 8 in the evening and it was all done at around 1 after midnight.

I did some work yesterday but was really tired in the evening to post (maybe because I slept for 5 hours? 😆), so here's some progress.

I worked on one roller and went a rather untraditional way. First I dealt with the rusty bits on the first photo because these are evident in reference photos and look pretty cool. At this point I also painted those few details that are there - a couple of electric cables and rubber bump stops. Then I went over the entire assembly with tiny pieces of sponge and light yellow and light green paints. Then some quick brush chipping with a steel color to fill them in, followed by a pinwash and rust tones.

The silver-colored cable socket is not an accident on my part 😅 It's probably made from alloy or stainless steel in real life, and it's visible in one ref. photo that I found.

Anyway, some of the effects might need some extra refining, or I might just leave it as it is, considering some sections will be completely covered in dry splattered mud. We'll see!

Of course, now it's time to work on the second roller!

Night Shift

Wow...I watch a lot of different YT videos while waiting for Friday’s, see a lot of modeller s doing a lot of the usual techniques ‘differently’ (badly in most cases....and so many reviews....what is it with reviews of the same kits over and over again! Make the damn things!.....sorry.....I digress...) and then I tune back into your images & videos, and realise, why do I bother looking elsewhere? There is no comparison..... Martin you truly are head and shoulders above any other on YT, and in most modelling books (.....hey.........now there’s a thought......a BOOK! 😀) I know you joke about not being a ‘professional’ but your are so much more professional than most in you prep, approach, videos, techniques and builds....(you only have to look at the amount of your Patreon members). I have to say being a member is the best investment I have made in modelling to date and just wanted to say thank you for everything you do for the hobby and for each of us....
