My friends, the basic tools video turned out beautifully! I probably spent more time setting up the lights and camera than filming, needless to say it's a true night shift episode because I filmed it at 8 in the evening and it was all done at around 1 after midnight.
I did some work yesterday but was really tired in the evening to post (maybe because I slept for 5 hours? 😆), so here's some progress.
I worked on one roller and went a rather untraditional way. First I dealt with the rusty bits on the first photo because these are evident in reference photos and look pretty cool. At this point I also painted those few details that are there - a couple of electric cables and rubber bump stops. Then I went over the entire assembly with tiny pieces of sponge and light yellow and light green paints. Then some quick brush chipping with a steel color to fill them in, followed by a pinwash and rust tones.
The silver-colored cable socket is not an accident on my part 😅 It's probably made from alloy or stainless steel in real life, and it's visible in one ref. photo that I found.
Anyway, some of the effects might need some extra refining, or I might just leave it as it is, considering some sections will be completely covered in dry splattered mud. We'll see!
Of course, now it's time to work on the second roller!
