It's taking shape!

Good late evening friends, and welcome new patrons!

Here's some progress from today, got the running gear assembled (it'll remain glued to the model) and I assembled the main parts. Also did some texturing, for example I realized that the molded-on weld beads are actually fairly nice, they just need a bit of texturing, so I won't be replacing them with new ones - but I'll be definitely adding all the missing ones, that's for sure. Also, the size of the tank is just perfect!

I also added some cast texture to the mantlet, and US tanks have very specific textures because all castings were machined, sort of "smoothened out" with hand tools. This gives them a very specific look. I'm thinking about making that into a separate video tutorial so it'll be easier to find. I'll see tomorrow.

Also, please accept my apology, I'm totally ready for bed again lol, I'll respond to everyone in the morning!

Good night for now!

It's taking shape! It's taking shape! It's taking shape! It's taking shape! It's taking shape!

Yup, I have the entire walkaround downloaded and there's always at least 1 photo open on my screen as I'm modelling 😊 I'll be drilling out the drainage holes tomorrow (probably) after I apply the concrete armor, can't wait to do that!

Night Shift

Haven't actually built a single Sherman since the first 48 Tamiya kits came out! Their 48th M4A1 was my first, and I suppose only Sherman so far 😊 And no, not just the mantlet, the entire turret :)

Nice texturing on the mantles. Another nice detail are the drain holes near on the splash guards near the fuel ports. Here's a link with pics; http://www.primeportal.net/tanks/dmitry_kiyatkin/m4a3e8/ I hope this helps😀

I'm so happy you're building a Sherman! I always loved this tank! 😄 yeah! a video for texturing the manlet is a good idea!
