Hey guys,
so I spent most of yesterday and today fixing everything wrong with this Tiger. Oh and yeah, in case you missed it, I chose to build this one as the next project.
If you remember this model from the My First Zimmerit video, there was a lot of stuff which wasn't exactly up to date.
So I removed the old crappy Zimmerit, scraped off almost every weld bead and scribed in new lines (they either didn't look good or had a noticeable gap between them and the armor plates which they are supposed to connect), built up a few armor cross sections with styrene as they were too short, I also sliced off the square shaped fender mounts on the hull sides because these were too thin, so I glued them to a piece of styrene, left them set overnight and today I chopped them out and ended up with new mounts twice as thick (hope this makes sense) and then glued them back, then I applied a brand new armor texture, flame cut marks and also textured the gun mantlet which sports a pretty cool combo of cast and machined surfaces. An interesting detail is that some armor cross sections were also machined so they're actually totally smooth.
The tank is now ready for new weld beads (and damn Tiger has the beefiest welds...) and before I can start replicating the damaged Zimmerit I'll also add a few bounced shell impacts.
Phew... it might not seem like it but it was a lot of work 🤤
