I need advice!!

SO! Yesterday I made a higher research video trying to look at the overall secondary watch market against the economy. I’m just a hobby economist and I know there might be some people who disagreed with me :) and that’s ok! But making that video - from the script writing to the editing reminded me of how much I love making high research videos.
I’ve had another idea come to mind and I wonder if anyone would be interested in it! Let me know if you think this is one worth pursuing or if I should put it on the shelf:

So this has actually come from my research into DIESEL WATCHES! 😂 and how they have been absolutely slaughtered by smart watches… namely… Apple! But even a few years ago, in Vancouver where I used to live… fucking EVERRRRYONE wore a DW. and now I am hard pressed to find one. DW sales are tanking, not quite as horrendous as Diesel but fashion watches have been destroyed by the Apple Watch. Luxury watches seem to have built a solid moat around themselves, but fashion watches are bleeding.
There’s so many things we can talk about in this video! Looking backwards, it feels impossible not to talk about quartz, the rise of Japanese watches and of course … Swatch! And looking forward theres a reason why Seiko says they are going to be concentrating more on their luxury side of things…. The $500 pricepoint just isn’t as viable as it used to be bevause the modern consumer, at that pricepoint, will probably choose an Apple Watch.
But this will also lead to a Part 2 of what I think the future holds for Apple Watch! Now, this will be quite a contentious part 2 as I think many willl disagree with me - but I think Apple is a ticking time bomb! I think there’s only so long that Gen Z will choose a watch that is as unsustainable as the Apple Watch. (But I’m also worried I am overestimating Gen Z, and underrating Apple marketing 😂😂)
Idk! PATRONS! Is this worth trying for?! And any Swedish patrons have insights on DW?! 😂💕💕💕

Apple watches are interesting. I had one (before I came back to real watches)….and gave it away to a friend who had started running so he could track his vitals. I don’t miss it. Apple is making tons of money on all their devices, and they will push them down their respective development paths - I suspect the Apple Watch will end up far from the basic watch. As a fitness tracker, it’s great. As a watch, i found it annoying to use. And it doesn’t last. To do the last software update before I gave it away, I literally had to delete all the apps before I could update the software. Oh, and most apps on the Apple Watch are silly and likely not long lasting. Long live automatic watches!

2022-08-28 20:25:38 +0000 UTCIt doesn't surprise me that fashion watches are the first sector to struggle in a downturn. They rely on people having disposable income. If you haven't got £300-500 for a watch or anything else, you won't buy it. As I said previously smart watches will go the same way quartz watches have gone. The cost of the electronics are getting cheaper & cheaper. So soon, smart watches will be available for around the same money as a quartz watch, i.e. under £50. They could quite easily kill off the cheap quartz watch.
