April Behind the Scenes Part 2

We're rolling into May and the weather in AZ is starting to heat up again. But we're hiding inside and staying cool until the next convention! There are a lot of spinning plates going for Catgirls, and I'm very excited to show you more of what we're working on!

Class Quiz

At Game On Expo and the Tucson Book Festival, new readers had trouble choosing character keychains, pins, and stickers because they didn't know who they were. The lovely Janna suggested creating something to help connect people to a character, and we decided it would be fun to create a Class Quiz!

Responses will reveal which Class and character you're closest to, and so far include Matt (Warrior), Keke (Bow Scout), Cannoli (Acolyte), Ravyn (Mage), Ceres (Fighter), and Naeemah (Dagger Scout). I had Kiora design tiny pixel art versions of each character so we could include them on buttons for test takers:

 We tried two different pixel sizes at first to see which one we liked better. The universal feedback was that the smaller sprites reminded us more of older JRPGs like Final Fantasy and Fire Emblem.

Once we release the test, I'll post it and the pins up in the shop. Saphira Tier and above Patrons will receive their chosen pin for free!

Best Girl Wars

As I mentioned in the recent Ai post, there's been an overhaul in the best girl wars chibis for the Discord server, graciously funded by readers and drawn by Comt!

And we added Maon to their ranks:

Ceres will be up next, and I'll post the completed Ravyn full-res chibi tomorrow!

Volumes 4 & 5

As we went through the Ichi Arc, we realized that it's a little over 200,000 words. So far, Volumes 1 - 3 have hit around 100 - 120k each, so dropping a book double the size didn't feel right. Because of this, the Ichi Arc will be split in half. We talked about where the climax for Volume 4 would be, and we'll be ramping it up significantly.

The first cover features Naeemah:

And the second will have Zahra and Sanrai. The hope is to put them on the same background but switch it to a nighttime theme.

Next week we'll choose the first few illustrations for Volume 4 for Comt to start working on. Narrowing down the two-page art piece in 4 will be tough - there are a lot of cool scenes to choose from.

Volume 5, well, the fight will absolutely be one of them.

Everyone's a Catgirl! Tarot Cards

I'm waiting to receive the full resolution of Cannoli, but we only have 8 Major Arcana left! WhiteCat continues to blow us all away with every card, and the set is stunning. We're deciding on what we'd like to do for the minor arcana - potentially island themes and a few of the characters we were sad not to have represented (like Ara) - and I'm starting to research printing them.

New Bookmark

Rellian Arts, the same artist who drew our first bookmark, is putting together a second one with everyone's favorite "stabby waifus." Ceres, Ara, and Naeemah all have their weapons out for this one. Careful not to get cut!

This month's NSFW piece from AridanBlack is centered around Ceres! I'm also working with Kiora to have pixel art for Yanni done. There are also a few additional pieces simmering out there for Ravyn and Sophia!

The Stream

In case you missed it, we streamed Slay the Princess with E.S. Marlowe, the main narrator for the Everyone's a Catgirl! audiobooks. You can catch the first VOD here, and the second VOD here! 

 We'll be doing our final BG3 run on 5/9 starting at 3PM MST.

Then a Discord server-wide Among Us and Lethal Company session on 5/11 for my birthday! Everyone's invited!

A few people expressed interest in a writing stream while we work. We're looking at having a couple of pngtubers set up on a new account. Stay tuned for updates!
