Yeah, seeing Okabe in black represents his mental state right now, it's very depressing. At least I know that he will help his past self to reach Steins;Gate world line so I'm very excited to see his journey. So that's why Mayuri said Hikoboshi, thanks man, you are really helping a lot! I thought it was an actual person. Steins;Gate ost and openings are beautiful, I'm listening to some of them often now! :D

2022-06-03 12:21:42 +0000 UTCOn the one bright side, we get to see everyone's winter wardrobe which is amazing! In my mind, Steins;Gate 0 basically functions as a tragedy in the beginning. He saved Mayushii and averted the SERN dystopia, but now he's stuck in an even worse worldline where Makise is dead and WWIII ends civilization. He fought so hard to save his friends, but now he doesn't even hang out with them anymore because he just can't cope with the trauma. It's a really depressing situation. It's fitting that Okabe dresses in all black like he's in mourning. One thing that comes up a lot in this show is the Japanese myth of Hikoboshi and Orihime. Basically, the story is of two divine beings who were lovers, but they were cursed to remain separated from each other by the Heavenly River (aka the Milky Way). They are represented by the stars Vega and Altair, which sit on opposite sides of the Milky Way in the sky. This is what 2036 Mayuri was referring to when she said "Hikoboshi-sama" in the beginning. Finally, the ending song here is "Amadeus," the OP of the S;G 0 visual novel. It's sung by Kanako Ito, who also brought us Hacking to the Gate, Skyclad Observer, and 0's opening, which you will hear next ep :)
