2022-10-10 21:53:10 +0000 UTCThe second movie, while still in the vibe of the first one, was a mess that sent the entire franchise off the rails, turning it into the Wednesday Show (literally, in Netflix’s case), and the Addamses into symbolic PC Avengers of the Weird. If you look up the original 60’s TV series, producer Nat Perrin used to write for the Marx Brothers, and not only did John Astin seem to play Gomez as a cigar-chomping Groucho, there’s also the same happy destructive anarchy as the family cheerily invades respectable society that’s not prepared for them.
