Saw this in theaters, one of my favorite movies and books. Seeing you culture shock is kind of funny ngl. My great grandma (black woman) grew up with the coloreds and the whites only. Went to all black school got the crappy books crappy school buses, whatever was left over from the white school used up and given to the black kids. I am southern, but have been told I don't sound southern, but get me upset and the Southern accent comes out real thick. I didn't realize you were Australian until this video lmao. ALSO Crisco is just oil, use to fry chicken with it when I was a kid that crap is so bad for your health ngl.

2023-01-13 18:16:39 +0000 UTCI've really been looking forward to watching this with you. Coming into my adulthood during the years in which this is set gave me a lot to think about. But what a cast! I can't think of anyone that wasn't at the top of their game here. Like so many great films dealing with American civil rights struggles, this only told part of the story. As it was only touched on slightly here, we have to remember the South was not strong on women's rights. Those white housewives were coming from a tradition of male dominance. They most often just went along with their fathers' and husbands' views
