How to Decide Whether You Should Upgrade A Device

I’m not actually in the market for a new TV right now, but I’m always looking for an excuse. You don’t create over a thousand comic strips unless you are, to some extent, obsessive.

Last time I bought a new TV, I ended up standing in a Best Buy, in front of a wall of screens, trying to decide if one showing slow-motion images of blobs of paint falling through a black void looked better than one showing drone shots of a gothic cathedral at sunrise. It was difficult to make a decent comparison.

One might as well have been showing apples while the other showed oranges.

I remember one time, though, that a TV was displaying a field of wheat, and I complained the image was, “too grainy.” Missy did a heroic job of hiding how hilarious she must have found it.

(Just out of curiosity though, do any of you have an OLED TV, and if so, have you noticed any burn in?)

Yeah, it's an endless treadmill . . . but so help me, I enjoy it!

I haven't got an OLED TV, but I've had burn in on OLED smartphone screens. TV's not my thing, but upgrade obsession is real. The computer I just ordered could've been a 65" 8k or an 83" 4k.

Thanks for the info about your OLED! I'd recommend Not Just Bikes (youtube.com/@NotJustBikes) Climate Town (https://www.youtube.com/@ClimateTown) Veritasium (https://www.youtube.com/@veritasium) Ze Frank (https://www.youtube.com/@zefrank) and Secret Galaxy (https://www.youtube.com/@SecretGalaxyTV)

I've had an LG OLED for 3ish years, also mostly watching YouTube edu-tainment with some mild console gaming. Zero burn in noticed at all. Got any favorite channels to recommend?
