My half-brother and I were both the kind of kids who read more than we talked, which often led to us using words that we didn't really know how to pronounce. He was the kind of person who wouldn't correct a mispronunciation directly, but would use the word himself a sentence or two later in the conversation and smugly pronounce it correctly (or at least the way he thought was correct). I'm the kind of person who, if I think I'm right about something, will stick to my guns no matter what. The totality of these circumstances regularly led to us lobbing our respective pronunciations at each other in an increasingly-heated (but still incredibly passive-aggressive) manner.
