I remember on one anime forum group, we used to have an enthusiastic pest who kept trying to discuss how "The Matrix is anime!", despite the fact that it was A), live-action, and B), not made in Japan. Y'see, he thought it meant something cool and indefinable, like Ghost in the Shell, and no one never bothered to show him My Neighbor Totoro.
