It was the parrot, or least a parrot, that said "Dead men tell no tales", which is actually the title of this movie in the USA instead of Salazar's Revenge.
I actually like the fourth movie over this one, but that's because I actually didn't care for Salazar's story. This one even had a few plot inconsistencies. Everything else you said about this movie, especially how it's written, I agree with. I still enjoyed the movie, and I liked Barbossa's story, and the reunion at the end.
All in all, as long as Depp is playing Jack, I'm going to enjoy it regardless. Last I heard, there is still a slight possiblity that Depp might return, but honestly, as much as I love him as Jack, I don't want him to return to Disney for his sake.
That said, I will watch the new movie to see how it goes. Rumor has it that the face of the original ride will be the main character. Hopefully, she will have a connection to the other movies, but it is supposed to be a reboot, not a sequel.
Also, I wish they did, or will do, something with Philip and the mermaid, as well as Angelica and the voodoo doll, as they left those off with a cliffhanger. Anyways, the first three movies were definitely the best, and they could have left the franchise there if they took out the fountain of youth cliffhanger.

Ya that's some strange thing that has recently started happening in usa. I taught that would be the last place for it t happen, yet here we are. :(
really hate Disney for a lot of their recent decisions. However they still have some good movies. It's a very strange thing. Wish they went back to old Disney.
