Update on Upcoming Release

Hello everyone,

January is coming to a close and unfortunately, I've still got what I'd estimate to be about 40-50 hours of work to get this thing ready. This was not a good month in that I lost almost 2 weeks in which my spare time was non-existent causing things to grind to a halt. I will not have a buggy repeat of 0.11. So, I'm updating my target for the week of February 10th-16th.

Couple additional notes. One, I will start posting here more and show you guys some of what to expect. I'm ready to unveil a few things. This should hopefully help the wait and show you all that progress is being made. Two, while I believe MV makes the game better, it did put me solely back into the worst aspect of development for me (scripting and setting up the systems). That has unfortunately taken time. Finally, please remember that I am no longer working full time on this. I squandered that opportunity (don't plan to do that again if I get the chance), so that is why it may take me 2 weeks to get 40 hours into the game's development.

I'll see you all tomorrow with a feature post from the upcoming release. Just hold on a week or two longer and that nipple above will be just a fraction of what you get to play with.

Update on Upcoming Release

You have to admit, I'm not quite as bad about delivering release dates every month now. The game was near testing phase in December, so I gave myself almost 2 months. I like to give release dates for the deadline aspect. It motivates me. Unfortunately, when I miss it, I also tend to either not set a new one, or I set one months away and then I dilly-dally and start going back to my bad habits. This is the first date I've given since last March/April. I still believe had I not had a string of really, really bad luck, I would have hit it. When you see a release in the coming weeks, hopefully, you give credence to that possibility.

I never said don't post, just stop posting about your guaranteed imminent releases. I said the same thing to you like 3 and a half years ago on 4chan and it's held true since. If you actually get the release out in two weeks then awesome but if not then at least consider a new approach for the sake of everyone's sanity.

OK, maybe a *few* people will be pissy. But most of us won't :-D Hang in there YT!

You are welcome to leave at any point. Nobody is forcing you to be here. I disagree with your approach. So, I'll run this the way I want, and you can run your own game development how you want. In fact, I'll go post on a forum now, because I would like to interact with people as a non-professional amateur dev. That's what makes this all worth while. Otherwise, I'd have quit 2 years ago. Also, one of those releases you mention at 5 minutes had over 20,000 words of new dialogue. So, there is that.

An actual release not 5 minutes of content and 200 bugs. Just do all those dev updates and lore posts instead that you dropped immediately. Giving people a release date and saying you're getting serious isn't a smart move when you've been doing it for years with 0 luck. Just finish the release, get half way through QA, then make a release date. Don't go on ULMF/f95 and write a hundred posts about how you're about to show everyone then get BTFO again.

It doesn't work that way. I "just released something" twice in 2017 and both times was blasted for it. I don't post for a month and people want more information. I'm not trying to hype it up, but I am trying to stay active and give people information.

Just release something instead of spending hours hyping up releases, then having to spend even more time justifying why you missed it.

It won't be February next year, but I definitely understand where you are coming from. Just keep watching, I'm ready to finally take this thing to where it should have been years ago. It's going to be awesome.

Or it'll be February of next year. That has been the pattern. You're being pretty optimistic if you think it'll get released in 2 weeks. Nothing wrong with optimism though I guess.

Thanks for the update! Let's be honest here, at this point we can safely say the people pledging you are not the sort that are going to go batshit about a week or two. :-D But-- Given the time between releases we do hope for something awesome, so if it takes a little extra time to polish it up right then that's the right thing to do. A year from now nobody will remember which week of Feb the thing was released on, but we'll definitely remember if it was awesome or not.

OK. Glad to see you're still at it. You'll get Moby yet!
