No Microwave Pizza this time, I swear!

So, wanted to post a quick status update. Unfortunately, my plans for a beta release this weekend probably just went by the wayside. My young son started puking yesterday, and that was followed by me getting sick and then my wife. While, last time I was probably be overly dramatic in regards to the microwave pizza giving me food poisoning (guessing it was just the flu), this time, with all of us getting sick--in addition to my brothers and my mother, I'm guessing it really was food poisoning. Happy Mother's Day...

Anyways, it is not a severe case, just an all-around feeling slightly miserable and nauseous when I sit up for long periods of time. My son is already better and running around, so I'm assuming I'll be good to go tomorrow.

Yes, not what you want to hear, and no, I don't think I am cursed. A few setbacks have occurred since I went part-time, a bit unlucky, but things don't usually go quite like this. Granted, this is my first child, and holy moley, that kid is sick a lot--little germ magnet.

Well, wanted to give those who are eagerly waiting the scoop. My guess is the beta release will be next week. I'll try and post again in a day or two. I'm not going to promise any teasers/lore posts, etc., because I am working almost solely on getting chapter 1 out the door at this point. If I do find time, or get tired of polishing things up, I'll post. I will definitely give you all a status update though later this week.

Now, back to bed I go... ugh, I fucking hate wasted days.

Comments

Two villagers arguing when interacting with them: "You're always late with your delivieries!" "It's not my fault! I got a bad case of food poisoning last week, and I had to sleep it off!" "That's the same excuse you used last time you were late!" "I can't help it! It's the meat pies fault, not mine!" "Then lay of the damned pies!" "I can't help it, they're so delicious!"

A food poisoning incident in the game would be kind of humorous, given everything.

YummyTiger Gaming

Posting a update in just a minute.

YummyTiger Gaming

Yes, the Divines (Gods) will play a role. The Church is a key player in everything, so they will be involved in that way. I can't reveal too much without spoilers, but you'll see their influence in a variety of ways as the game progresses. None in chapter 1, or probably chapter 2 though. You will get more exposure to the history and the war though in these early chapters. Especially chapter 2 when you leave Zalran.

YummyTiger Gaming

Are you going to have food poisoning in the game due to real life events for humor?

Nine Horse Hitch

Is Chapter 1 Bate going to be put this week? For realzs this week?

Nine Horse Hitch

Feel better now Yummy?

So Yummy, how's work going? :D

MasterQi

So I've just been playing through the prologue again because I'm curious about the Gods of the world of Aylia's Story. The gods that have been referenced are Tanaia, Rakshan, Azazel and some elusive elf 'goddess'? As the gods obviously play such a large role in the setup for the game I'm really wondering what impact they'll have through the course of the game, are they active antagonists, passive observers, or helpful to Aylia? Will we find out more about the war as the game goes on?

thswherizat

It's a good thought. I definitely crack my windows in the Spring. Fresh air! Plus, after any sickness, the air gets stuffy.

YummyTiger Gaming

Meh, what's another delay or two? Eh? But in all seriousness, you might want to start cracking windows. You're getting to that time of year where it's better to have a well aerated house to help clean out the bad air from winter. Just a thought on the issue.

Samsonium

XD lol damn! you sure have a lot of stuff happen too you! XD well, get better soon. :)

Even

I can sympathize with the kid situation. I look after my toddler daughter and I seem to have been ill one way or another for most of the year so far thanks to her...

TurnipFactory

No worries, there was nothing "dickish" about your prior post. Stress definitely weakens an immune system, but I'm not terribly stressed. Yes, I want to get the game out and meet the deadline I set, but this is the funnest job I've ever had. April was a bit stressful, but now that I'm truly working part time on Aylia's Story.. nah, that's a dream come true. The sump pump was a failed float switch, I ended up replacing it myself. Although, given how much that pump runs, I would not be shocked if it failed on me. Used shift + enter like I used to for this line, it does not recognize the space anymore though.

YummyTiger Gaming

I understand I really only been a part of the group at around December time frame. The stress is weakening your immune system as well. I'm sorry it comes off dickish they way I wrote it. I just have a hard time being soft with my words. The think I meant by deep clean was have a pump break on you is a sign of age or stuff going down the system that shouldn't be there. A mold build up from leaky pipe. Not trying to be a dick just someone who looking out for someone especially one with a toddler. PS: the spaces in messages is now done by pressing "shift" key + "enter" key. May the era of the message break never end. Unless looked at from the home page.

Nine Horse Hitch

EDIT: Why did Patreon stop allowing spaces in messages, that is annoying...

YummyTiger Gaming

I am fairly clean, but I'll be honest, keeping a clean house with a toddler is damn tough. As for food poisoning, I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've ever had it. I was being dramatic last time I think, all signs point to the flu. I really don't get sick that often, 3 times since last November is pretty surprising for me. Usually, it is 1-2 times a year, with maybe a weak cold added in. I think part of it is having a young child. Kids get sick a lot, their immune systems are developing. I'm always around the little germ magnet, so I get more exposure to sickness that I probably used to. It'll balance out. The down side is that unlike my prior job, where I might just tough through sickness and work, it is REALLY, REALLY hard to be creative when you feel like crap. And, almost all aspects of game development require some creativity.

YummyTiger Gaming

Haha, I can splurge a bit more than that :-)

YummyTiger Gaming

Ha, did not even think about that. Isn't the new English game market awesome. Just wait until some of us new developers get our first products finished and become veterans at this process. The future looks nice!

YummyTiger Gaming

Well, in this case, I'm very confident it was food poisoning. My family got together for Mother's Day and pretty much everyone who was there got sick. That is a good indication.

YummyTiger Gaming

how many times has your family had food poisoning or gotten really sick? it could be time to clean the house top to bottom with disinfectant. In the last half a year you have be sick twice on food poisoning. the best option is cleaning. especially after the shit pump blowing. Not saying your disgusting just saying deep clean could do you but mainly your kids some good. (If you are someone who is really clean sorry).

Nine Horse Hitch

Celebrating Mothers Day with microwave pizza huh, YT? ... You can tell us.

InsaneBrain

Don't worry Yummy, I'll refresh the Patreon page anyway! :D

MasterQi

Dear god, man. Some ethereal presence really doesn't want this game made. Just one thing after another with you, mmm? Welp, thanks for the indomitable will and all that, though maybe for good measure, take Aestral's suggestion and maybe sacrifice a goat before dinner.

Not Telling

Hey everyone, starting to feel better. Slept quite a bit today, ate some crackers and had a bit of soup. Still, positive signs, so planning on kicking things back into high gear tomorrow. The main reason I wanted to make that post was to let people know that this week was not the week. That way, they don't feel the need to refresh the page or anything, and getting antsy. I'll give you all an update later this week, and that update should have a concrete list of final things to get done. On a more positive note, Balduindrake is the man, he fixed in one day the script that I've been banging my head against off and on for awhile now. User error, of course. Just another reason why having someone like him on board is so helpful!

YummyTiger Gaming

Think of it this way, it's strengthing your immune systems!

Lee Thompson

Viduka you hit it on the head, I'll be going in circles, get to feeling better Yummy! We, or at least I will wait. Now where did I put those torches? Saph! Wait up!

Darthjake

Feel better man.. and let the kid play in some mud... make em more sturdy and durable against the germs ;)

James

Hey don't knock microwave pizza.

Lee Thompson

Nobody's saying that you are cursed Yummy, but hanging a couple of those curse-repelling talismans around your house, and maybe sacrificing a goat or two would help with your... issues...

Aestral

get better, we are counting on you no pressure

Get well soon! Now I'm off to buy those pitchforks, just in case .... I need to do some farming.

Hurr

Don't worry YT when you get rich you'll be able to hire a personal doctor :3

Furanky

Sick is sick it happens. Get well soon and kids get everything that is going around school or daycare. It's probably not food poisoning. Bet a bunch of your kids friends got it as well.

Timothy Cowher

Malise and the Machine and Aylia Story on the same week? I don't think my body is ready :}

its not like we out buying torches and pitchforks to form some kind of vigilante mob im saving that for next week

coldfire

coldfire
